Laurie,

I applaud you for writing this letter! Good for you!

If you have the strength I want to encourage you to go one step further. The better business bureau may not have much power in preventing it from happening to someone else, though, or making it right for you. Your state's medical Quality Board has the power to discipline that doctor for his behavior. There may have been previous complaints and this will be the one that trips an investigation.

All you have to do is modify your letter slightly and add in a word or two about professional ethics. Look up your state board on this link: http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/edu...n/medical-licensure/state-medical-boards.page Send the letter to your state's medical board.

If he's disciplined you'll never know. But his peers will have reined in his behavior. Speaking of his peers, if the clinic is part of a hospital you can complain to the hospital's quality department. That kicks of a mandatory investigation in most hospitals.

I'm MAD at HIM.

I'm PROUD of YOU!!!!!!!

I am so terribly sorry you had to meet an ignoramus whose obvious ability is only in hurting people and not helping them. I have meet two neurologists who sound the same, I got escorted out of one hospital for verbal abuse, I know that is not right but in the circumstances it was called for. I hope something gets done about him. Well done on writing the letter and its worded a lot nicer than I would have done. I am sorry you had to meet him.

Knewtown - that your were administered two conflicting drugs is the height of irresposibility. And just to think a plane turned around for you and in so many words a doctor turned on you. Thank you. I hope to be blessed as well with this new neurologist.

I called to refill my meds, and the pharmacy didn't receive a reply to their faxes to his office, so I called and spoke to the doctor and he was super rude to me and said he would absolutely not refill my prescription because it had been over 6 months since I'd had an appointment. I was never told he wanted to see me in 6 months, so I never scheduled an appointment.

Krista - this is what first got me to crying in his office. Being cut off from my meds could only lead to disaster for me. Here's how I see it. So what if you did forget to make an appointment? A neurologist should understand that persons with Epilepsy sometimes get confused. I think we should be given some slack.

Endless - that you so much for supplying me with that link. I will be looking further into the New York State Board of Medicine. However my understanding to date is that it would be rather futile because it would be my word against his. That the Medical Board can only take action eg if there was concrete evidence of imcompetance. Let's say he administeredthe wrong meds (as in Newtown's case) But I will look into the Medical Board. I'm still burning MAD!

Liam - I wanted to let him have it! But had to control myself in order to get my Lamictal. If that were not the case %^&$# would be flying!
