So last night Taylor starts pulling on her ears so I take her in this morning and big surprise another double ear infection. so this make number 8 and 9 for her. And she hasnt had a seizure in 4 days now tha tshe has the ear infection she has had 2 already today. Maybe the other dr was right it is triggered by infection. I dont know.
I have to take her back to the Ear Nose and Throat Dr on monday to see if they want to put tubes in. They want to watch the infection. So she cannot have antibiotis or anything. No Tylonel even unless her fever is over 102.
Stressing me out

I can totally get

where you're coming from. Each of my kids has had....3, or 4 sets of tubes. Depends on the kid. Total of 10 or 11 sets...I lost count. 3 kids.

I don't think she's triggered by the infections.....but probably by the PRESSURE from the infections. Think about the proximity of it. An ear infection gone wrong can do damage to ears and brain. BUT, I might be wrong, too.........*SIGH* I really wish you didn't have to go through this.

Holler if you need anything, OK? We'll be here for ya.

Hi Tay's Mama

Hope she is feeling better! My 2 children are teens now, but they used to get ear infections constantly. Then they finally outgrew it. Thank God. I wonder if her fever could've also been brought on by the seizures. Not sure if that is possible. I know High fevers can result in them. Or maybe the pressure like Meetz mentioned. More baby! I hope she feels better. Give her a hug from all of us here! Sounds funny, but we always loved a warm bed buddy when we had ear infections or sore glands. Not in her crib or bed, but maybe when you are cuddling her. I still break them out when I don't feel well.

One thing

I forgot to mention that I used to do that ALWAYS HELPED:

SWEET OIL. Look for it by the pharmacy counter.....

Just a drop or 2, no more. Let it slide in there. It helps to relieve the pressure.........

You might try eliminating all dairy food from her diet. It helps reduce the likelyhood of ear infections:
In Childhood Ear Infections, Dr. Michael A. Schmidt presents over 16 scientific studies that show that many cases of chronic ear infections are due to food or airborne allergies or hypersensitivity reactions. Allergies can cause significant pressure changes within the middle ear, as well as obstruction of the eustachian tube. The most common allergens implicated in ear infection are cow’s milk and dairy products, wheat, eggs, chocolate, citrus, corn, soy, peanuts or other nuts, shellfish, sugar, and yeast. Dairy is the number one contributor to childhood ear problems. Proper allergy management, such as elimination and rotation diets, can produce dramatic recovery in allergic children with chronic ear infections.

We tried mineral oil one time which is kinda the same thing. It just made hers worse. It helped with the pain she didnt complain as much but at her follow up her ears were more red than before. Seems like everything is opposite for her...

Actually I read about that before. She has no dairy in her diet her and her Father are both allergic to milk. I am begining to wonder if there is something else that she is allergic to. There has to be some cause of these reoccuring infections.

Just becareful of enviromental as well!

When I was born with so many birth defects I had many allergens to enviromental and foods!
In fact at the time there was aproblem with some of the dyes in foods like yellow # 5, and other frequently used dies and for enviromental molds and air quality!
Go to www.faan.com

and google allergies yhat are great organizations there as well!

Hi...so sorry to hear that you and Taylor are having a hard time. My youngest has had chronic ear infections. I've tried a variety of things, and have found a few that work:
*Samilisan ear drops---relieves the pain, but doesn't treat the infection (they're homeopathic). You can get them OTC at just about any pharmacy
*heat--applied to the ear (like heating pad--you can use a cloth bag--or even a sock--filled with rice and heat it in the microwave for a minute or so, so you don't have to worry about the electrical cords tangling around her) releives pain

My son seems to get ear infections after he has a bout with seasonal allergies or a cold--the eustacean tubes in a child are shorter and straighter than an adult's, allowing mucus from rhinitis (cold/allergy) to back up into the ears and cause an infection. I've found that the best way to prevent his ear infections is to prevent the cold/allergic reaction. I use a product called Herbs for Kids. It's a herbal concoction to boost the immune system.

I hope you both get some rest and that she's feeling better soon.

Is there any connection between having a lot of ear infections and having epilepsy? My daughter had 17 ear infections before she was a year old, so much so that her hearing was permanently damaged, she has 25% hearing in her left ear and 38% in her right ear. She still has at least 4 ear infections per year at 10, despite her ENT specialist telling me every 6 months that she will 'definately' have grown out of them by the next time she sees her.
