My thoughts are with the American people who lost their loved ones in this terrible shooting and with the innocent people who lost their lives. It was on the Dutch news. I find it so shocking the shooting was in a care center for disabled people, the most venerable. Despite my respect for your civil rights, I find it so hard to understand anyone can buy and own guns and rifles in the USA which costs far too many innocent lives.

They been radicalise.neigbours had been aware but did nothing that difficult do we sticks our nose in because worried or watch people doing something you got bad feeling about.
I going to do RIP thread each time this happens you never know every little bit help.
I got travel through London on 23 my husband very worried but I surppose if put yourself in a bubble on off chance something going to happen we never live a life

Well, I did cancel my trip to Paris, planned for 21, 22, 23 December. Feels no good to go there with two children in these days. We'll wait untill things are cooled down.

It is sad. :(. This world is so messed up.

Dutch Mom- the gun thing..in Texas you can carry a concealed weapon if you go to a gun range and complete the class/requirements. Any lawful person can do this. What's very scary is we just passed an open carry law. I don't like guns, and I don't want to see someone openly carrying one. :(. I don't want my kids seeing it either but what can you do.

These type of things are incomphrensible to me. I have family in Riverside close to where this happened so it kind of hits home.

So terrible, so sickening. The world is a strange place right now.

The law is not made for those who keep the law, but for those break the law.

With the injustices occurring in the US on a daily basis, it does not surprise me. Call it Karma, call it cause-effect, call it reaping and sowing, until we in the US ask the right questions, and change our beliefs and behavior, these kind of shootings will continue.

As a disabled person, I have been on the receiving end of many injustices, and I do not see any end in sight. Ie: when I was homeless, my food support was cut by $ 174. Why, I asked? Because of what my expenses might be in the future. My medical assistance was terminated (by mistake). I visited the government center where I live prior to both of these things when I knew I was going to be homeless, and informed them, but it made no difference. This has gone on for years. The scales of justice must be balanced. How they can be balanced at this point is beyond me. The terror from within this country needs to be addressed before progress can be made in addressing the terror from without. There is simply far too much chaos, and we are suppose to be afraid when there is chaos.

It is when the ground is soft that seeds of truth and change can be planted. Storms (shootings) should make the human heart softer, and hungry for real truth.

When I was young, I did what was right because I was afraid of doing wrong. When I was middle aged, I did what was right because it was right. When I was old, I did what was right because I understood. unknown

When the amendment to the constitution about the right to bear arms was written, we were talking about muskets where you get one shot and then need to get out your powder horn and do a reload which took about five minutes. You couldn't possibly do a mass shooting like this with that technology.

The laws need to be changed to fit the "advances" in weaponry. A pistol is for self defense and a rifle is for hunting but there is no conceivable purpose for "semi" automatic assault weapons other than to kill human beings on a massive scale.

We wouldn't have to repeal the 2nd amendment to outlaw this particular type of weapon.

This world is seriously effed up. I want to go back to Hawaii.

AlohaBird,

Well said! I have always felt the 2nd amendment needs to be updated to reflect today's weapons, as well as the changes in today's society. Semi automatics have no purpose other than to be used by the military, and law enforcement (in limited circumstances).

Semi automatics aren't needed to hunt or for sport. The NRA pumps so much money into political coffers; it's up to all of us to make our voices heard....in the voting booth.

I cannot say I know much about the laws or 2nd amendment but irrespective my hearth goes out to all the people involved in such a terrible thing.

It certainly has been a sad last few weeks, and not only in the States. France and so many other countries too numerous to count have suffered the effects of gun violence and terror attacks. It amazes and disturbs me that so many of these atrocities are carried out under the guise of religion.
