For about the past few hours i've had numb and tingling like mild pins and needles in my fingers and my hands have been trembling a bit.

To begin with i thought that maybe i'd been leaning on my elbows or something whilst sitting but even after going for a bath it's still there. Also, when i checked the water temperature for the bath it felt warmish but then when i got in, it was freezing!

Anyone know if numbness in hands could be a side effect of meds? I'm on Keppra and Tegretol but my Google skills are not really turning up any info today.

It's not like extremely bad or painful as such, just really puzzling! It's happened a few times before but usually went away after half an hour or so.

tingling fingers

I get tingling fingers and toes from a reaction to the medication topamax (topriamirate) wonder if its related? happens usually if its close to the middle of its half life of doesage of if i am hungry usually.... At least thats what I have noticed with me. Usually worse on my right side than on my left side. Don't know why that would be. I am gonna ask my nuero the next time I see him though. I am on Keppra also in addition. I don't think its a reaction to the keppra. Did not notice a tingling sensation when i was just on the keppra. Only noticed it when I started on the topamax. and it started pretty much right away even when i was just on like 25 mgs. now i am up to 200 mgs 2x a day.

Hmmm... i've been on 3000mg keppra for a couple years now and never noticed it before either. My hands are still tingling now. It's not painful, just very irritating.

I am also on Keppra the same amount you are on I think .....are you taking a generic? I am (MYLAN brand) I take it in 2 doses 2x a day 1500mgs a dose. are yours the same I wonder. I have tried the Glenmark generic also but I dont tolerate it as well I have had breakthrough seizures on it. I have been on Keppra about 4 years now.

Nah, i only have the brand ones for both keppra and tegretol. My neurologist requested it. Glad i don't have to worry about getting a different generic every time i go to collect them now!

Oh I avoid that problem... the chemists know me by name at the CVS now where I get my drugs, I don't leave until its filled correctly and they give it to me in the manufacturers bottles anyway unless I request smaller bottles If I am flying or it is a smaller Rx. They think I am a right bother I am sure but it needs to be right and I always make sure I am nice to them. I have 4 drugs to fill with them after all I am keeping them employed!

I always get my meds at the same place too. They always collect my prescription from the docs for me and make them up ready so i just have to collect them. They offered to home deliver them but i work funny hours so couldn't guarantee i'd be in when they called.

Here, my meds always come in the original blister packs in boxes so i know for certain it's always the same ones.

The tingling and chills could also be from something like low thyroid. How are you feeling today?

Paresthesia (pins and needles) could be a side effect of keppra

Ooops, couldn't make the list format right so please go here and edit/search on paresthesia.

I've had times when I couldn't feel hot or cold. I was told this is also a form of paresthesia. I don't know if it was the medications, or another neurological disorder that I have. It eventually went away.

In any case, call your doctor! This is something that he needs to know about.

I've been pretty dizzy and not too great these past couple days and I had the shakes/trembles for a bit before my hands went numb but I haven't had pins and needles bad today, just really mild. I'm wondering if maybe its a bug of some sort. I'll mention it the next time I see my doctor. I feel a bit silly now for worrying about a few hours of pins and needles but it was strange and uncomfortable yesterday.

If its the Keppra I don't know why it would suddenly appear now, that's a little puzzling. I've been on the maximum dose now for 2-3 years.

The only time I get tingling is in my hands and feet right before a seizure is to begin. Im also on 3000mgs of Keppra XR and havnt had any experiences with the tingling other than before a seizure would begin.

Hyperventilating, Blood sugar issues, Sore neck or neck injury, High blood pressure, And it sounds like seizures can all cause that.

Either way, I agree to alert your MD sooner rather than later. :)

I had it as a side effect of Keppra, and now I have it even worse as a side effect of Topamax. I can't cross my legs for any length of time, or I get major pins and needles. Just one of the things we get to deal with, I guess.

Maybe it's that then. I got really bad pins and needles in my legs earlier after sitting on the floor for only a minute or so when i wrapped my dads fathers present. Used to be able to sit cross legged for ages with no problems.

I'll just chalk it up to another pretty much harmless yet completely irritating side effect >.<

Thanks for all the replies guys
