Last Thursday, I started topamax (15mg twice a day) and noticed that I feel like my blood sugar is falling. I get dizzy, etc and when I finally get something to eat I feel better. I am tall and thin (5'8" and 110). I usually eat when I am hungry and I am not hungry any more. Has anyone else experienced this? I think I can manage this but I need a plan.

Topomax is know to work as an appetite suppressant, so it may well be causing your loss of appetite and corresponding low blood sugar. If you are missing meals, make sure you are getting enough to eat throughout the day, but particularly first thing in the morning when your blood sugar levels are low from the overnight fast.

I take 200 mgs. of Topomax along with Keppra and as Nakamova said, Topomax is known to be an appetite suppressant. Back in the 90's when I initially started taking it, I had no appetite and lost 25 lbs. Plus, I do have diabetes, also, so I make sure I get something to eat to keep my blood sugar from dropping. A nickname for Topomax is Dopamax 'cause it can also make one very "spacey" and forgetful along with dizzyness. Make sure you mention it to you dr. if that becomes a problem.
