I was wondering if anyone could help me. My daughter is 1 and she has a siezure d/o. She has been on phenobarbital for the last 10months, and tried kepra but that dropped her ANC. The dr's put her on topamax and she just can't seem to get the topamax level to rise to the theraupuetic ranges.

So my question is... has anyone else had this problem? if yes, what did they do? We just want the siezures to stop!

It can be tough trying to find the right med/dosage, especially with young children. Is she taking both the Topomax and the Phenobarb right now? They interact to some extent, and Phenobarb can lower Topomax levels, so your daughter's dosage may need to be a little higher to compensate.

One non-medication treatment approach involves diet. If you haven't already discussed it with your daughter's neurologist, you might want to consider it.

We believe that they are changing her topamax to a different medication as of tommorrow anyways. I didn't get to look at the link yet, but i believe it is the ketogenic diet. my wife and I have discussed it, but we will see.
