I am taking Topamx. The neuro just lowered my dose. I took the new low dose last night and feel much better this morning. I remember reading that some of the side effects could be mood related. Would Topamax magnify whatever you already have going on? I already work in a stressful environment. I have worked there for six and a half years and not much has changed. I was diagnosed and had surgery for colon cancer last year. I have never had a bad reaction to stress other than losing my temper and yelling once in a while. Wed night I thought I had a bunch of seizures. When I saw neuro for my follow up yesterday he thinks it was PNES. Now that I can think a little clearer could the Topamax have had a role in this? For the past couple of weeks since I was on the higher dose I haven't wanted to get up in the morning, been exhausted at night, not wanting to talk with my kids, havn't picked up my camera in weeks, etc.

Thanks!

Topomax (and other anti-seizure meds) can definitely affect mood and energy levels. Depending on the person, some of the meds can even cause seizures rather than control them. It's possible that the higher dose of Topomax was either directly or indirectly responsible for your recent symptoms, but you may not be able to tell for sure.

It's great that you feel better on the lower dose. Make sure to regularly keep track of how you are feeling. That can help with evaluating and fine-tuning the meds.
