Everyone has different triggers. Fatigue is a big one for many. Stress, too. Caffeine and alcohol can be triggers. Some are photosensitive, meaning light flashing at certain frequencies triggers seizures. That's why the strobe light test is usually done during EEGs.

In the past, my biggest triggers were fatigue and stress.

All triggers I've heard of it. I just thought maybe there were were some I haven't heard of.
Caffeine, fatigue, and alcohol are my biggest.

Hi finalpoet,

stress and fatigue as others have mentioned but hot water hitting my head, hormones changing each month along with anything with nutra sweet in it like diet soda. Also I'm cell phone sensitive so when a lot of people are using their phones at the same time it triggers seizures for me but that's do to the frequency the cell phone uses. Wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Hi finalpoet,

txtiger is correct aspartame in nutra sweet can trigger seizures for some people because the aspartame causes more electrical activity in the brain for some people and in turn that can cause seizures. I never realized this until my Epileptologist asked me what I had been eating and drinking and when I told him I would drink a 2 liter bottle of diet soda in a week he told me that could be what was causing all the extra seizures so I stopped drinking the diet soda and the seizures reduced. Wishing you only the best and May God Bless You!

We are yet to identify triggers with me (after 10 years!) But my doctors believe that lack of sleep and certain types of stress may be triggers for me however this isn't always the case as I have been in insanely stressful situations and not had a seizure or had 6 hours sleep over a 72 hour period and not had a seizure either (that time really sucked - I was stuck on 16 hour shifts 3 days in a row protecting a town from a large bushfire attacking it - we lost 200 houses in my area but saved thousands of others. 500 houses were lost total in fires that burnt 118,000 hectares and a campaign lasting nearly 3 weeks).

I've felt that stress/tension can be a trigger for me. What is really annoying though, is when a complex partial occurs w/in 2 or 3 hours of eating a dose, often while I'm just sitting there watching TV.
