Trying to move out on my own.

I'm trying to move out my own...........this would be the first time though.

There's this town called Stuart, its near me. And I'm thinking about moving there.
They buses, the main reason.
I don't have a job. Or money have saved up. Any saved money goes t o this freaken high level of vimpat my doctor on.
But I want to get a bracelet that tells people that I have seizures if I'm not with someone...
I'm currently living with my family.
I don't have a job..and I'm going to apply for financial aid for summer two classes.
I'm not able to drive with my seizures, but my family takes me to my classes. ..and my sister pays for my phone bill.
So what I want is to get a job, as something, personal assistant w/e.
Save that money to move to Stuart....and continue my schooling.....go to my school by bus........Save up enough money encase they increase the rent. or i loose my job. I might need to get a second job just in case....

did u ever get a service dog?
did u ever have to get a room mate?

Both of my shoulders poped out of place yesterday because of a bad grand mal . Do u know any good videos of exercises for it.. i cant roll them :/

I've lived alone for the greater part of 20 years. The only time I didn't was when I was involved in a serious relationship. It's great that you've made a list and considered absolutely every part of your move. It will make a huge difference. Just don't be afraid of making that list again and again when new problems pop up or things don't work out quite the way you planned. You'll make mistakes, and that's good. All you need to do is not fall apart over them and get up to start again. Saving up money for future problems is, of course, an excellent thing to do, but keep in mind that saving up is pretty difficult for a lot of people, so don't beat yourself up if you don't get it right first time.

It was very scary to move out on my own in the beginning. I was very young and didn't actually have a clue how to take care of myself. I ran into people along the way who helped out and who ended up becoming friends for life. I was also incredibly lonely when I first moved. It went away, though. Come to think of it, my baby brother was also pretty bad at looking after himself when he first moved out. Maybe it's just normal.

I've never had a seizure dog and I've only had a roommate for a month or two. I really value my own space. I've also never been able to drive.

I was in my 20's the 1st time I moved out on my own. It was a town near were my mother lived.I ended up finding an apt an living on my own for 2 years until my sz's started increasing really bad again, there was no bus line just cabs and I walked to most places.
I lived Hud apartments I was on SSI.
I've never had a roommate except for the 2nd time for someone who mooched off me and I couldn't get him out and he figured it was ok my mom was paying my rent the 2nd time I moved out after my sister split, I lived in midtown atlanta was able to get around.

I lived on my own in my late 20's and I have to use disability aids also but just having that independence alone made me feel better but I dropped on good neighbours who was always on the alert for me...which was an added bonus ontop.

oh geez ,yes I know I need to keep focused on my goals with saving my money. I do value my own space as well, and I've never been alone with anyone but my self truly. I know its probably going to be very lonely... : / But I need it. I want to move out by myself on my own..I need my space. And I know the things to get me there.

If your receiving disability, and you move out of the home that you were receiving disability.....can you just tell them that you want to change your address? Or will you stop receiving the disability checks?
This is a question of mine because I'm about to, or am thinking about receiving disability..but I'm also thinking about moving out and getting a job and going to college....and not relying on my parents at all. Not relying on no one.
could i still get disability?

Hello Athena,
When you move you just alert them of change of address as that's all they want to know because of mail, nothing else will happen.
You can still get it even living on your own...they look at the circumstances of your illness and to how bad you have what you've stated plus back up letters from doctors and specialists help in a large way.

If at all possible....I want to have a job while going to college. I know its bad to get a job, while in college. but I need to save up......
My medicines are going to cost the most of it. As well as my health insurance. Since I don't drive, I don't have to pay car insurance. But if I move out I'm going to have to pay that idek cause its my first time. ....
But the main thing I have to save up is for my medicine.

Rant away it does we all good :lol: but if your on medicines where you don't feel any affect or side affects with a med seem to much your doctor needs to be alerted...to tell you the truth I wished I was only popping 3 different types of tablets daily, which isn't to bad for you at the moment but I know the cost can be high but I just hope your able to get a job in the meantime which you want to do but also able to cope with

If you are in the states there are apartments in every city, even small towns that have low income housing. Its something to look into. You pay 30% of what your total income (minus receipts for meds too so keep them) for rent. There are programs to help you pay first months rent, security deposits, some for utilities etc. These are federally funded. My son was without a job for a few months and paid $18 a month rent plus other help and food stamps.

thank you : ) I have noticed some apartment near Stuart...... Thats a pretty good equation I want to save as much as possible.......I've noticed theres something like this on my computer to tell me how much I'm allowed to spend based on my income. I just wish I can do it.

Another thing to think about is reaching out to your resources. EF has an office in Stuart that may be able to hook you up with a roommate looking to move out, as well. I moved out when I was 20. It was scary and freeing. There are job placement programs here in Florida that work with the differently abled that might be a good choice. A lot of employers are bound by the Ada, so long as they are public providers or large employers. Municipal employment, school districts, etc. all must strictly adhere. They are safer choices.
