Does anybody know anything about tumeric?
Somebody at work was telling me it is good for the brain.
I found the article, but I am a bit of a skeptic. I will not jump into something without some sort of verification as to its efficacy.

Turmeric seems to be linked to overall brain health. People in India have lower rates of dementia and Alzheimers, and the suspected link is turmeric which can be a big component of the Indian diet. It's also an anti-oxidant I believe, with all the benefits those can bring.

Only that it is completely awesome.

I insist on adding it to every soup I make. A little goes a long way though (ie. you don't have to use a lot at a time).

I use it alot. It has an awesome mild flavour. Just don't get it on your clothes though, because it stains.

Yes, if you want bright yellow clothing go wild with the turmeric and don't wear an apron!

I have some bright yellow aprons and dishtowels now. The countertops also needed a scouring at one point  I'm not very graceful when I cook.

I agree with the others that turmeric is a spice that is worth trying and enjoying. Yes, it does stain and too much of it is bitter but, in small amounts, it adds great flavor and color to foods you are making. I think it is also anti-inflammatory in addition to being an antioxidant. Some herbal remedies such as Zyflamend for arthritis relief have it as the main ingredient. Bernard is right -- soup is a great way to integrate it into your diet.

It's a lovely spice and I agree it has several health benefits except when your husband uses it, completely unaware of its staining qualities:lol:
