Hi. Glad to hear the MRI was clear. Regarding Drew's night - owl ness , it really important that you force him to go to bed early. sleep deprivation is one of the top precipitants of seizures. Keep a watch on him in the morning when he gets up. Early morning is the most common time for seizures. Do not let him get away with skipping meds. They taste awful so he'll probably spit them out. Watch him swallow the pills.
You should be proud of yourself .You stuck to your guns. I was diagnosed with absence too untill my neurologist had a fit of inspiration and changed the diagnosis(correctly ) to Juvenile Myoclonic epilepsy. Fortunately for me both are treated with the same drugs so it didn't matter. Absence seizures can be part of almost any epilepsy . Don't freak out about little things in his life. You've had a rough time and it's only natural to want to protect him. He can still do what everyone else does only he has to take a pill every day. Don't worry. Since it's only epilepsy , he'll be fine.

Hi my son is three also and is awaiting an mri scan how did yours go, everything you described is the same as my son although he suffers myoclonic seizures and is showing all the same symptoms as your son. I too am the only parent coping with this as i can no longer work to look after Jay as his dad works very long days its sooo hard i feel like crying at every appointment and i feel so guilty for him when i go to sleep, but its nothing that could be prevented. Please get back and let me know how you all are
regards
carly
