I had a seizure-y day last week, and since then my vision hasn't quite recovered. I've worn glasses for ages, but even with my glasses on, everything is just a bit out of focus.

I also know that it's a side effect of my meds, but again, it's more than usual.

Anyone experienced this??

Just a few more days and then I have health insurance again! :woot:

I'm with you on Lamictal - double vision loads, and yeah it's sometimes worse after various ones.

I've resisted getting a new test recently, coz I'm sure when the Lamictal's affecting me I'll end up with a stronger pair than I actually need at the time..

My vision seems to have gotten worse over the past year or so. Not sure if it's linked to the frequent seizures as of late or if it's something else, but I have a feeling I'll be wearing coke bottle glasses by the age of 30.

Over the last year I've started getting double vision. One of the meds I take is Lamictal. I've been on it for a few years and I don't remember if that's the med that my neuro said can causes it or not.

After my very first seizure I had to be put in a coma for a few weeks because I wouldn't stop seizing. When I got my eyes checked after that my vision had changed drastically. Now I get my eyes checked every two years and my vision does change slightly between visits and I have to get new glasses.

Ok. Wow. It seems like it was actually an after effect, as my eyes are feeling much clearer now. I can still tell that it's time for another prescription...but not as badly. I was due for one anyway, but after the seizures it was like twice as bad in my left eye. But over the last 2 days I've noticed improvement.

I should still make that appointment soon.

I also have problems with one of my meds, carbamazepine, causing double vision. I have it happen and I'll see everything from slightly overlapping to complete double with a strong sinus-like pressure behind my eye's. When the double vision starts to fade, I end up with a headache that lasts for an hour or so.

my neuro once talke dof me trying a med, (Potiga) which can cause vision problems.

He wouldn't let me try any drug because it caused problems.

I refuse to mess with a med that might affect my vision, and make it worse than it already is.

I take Tegretol and I have sinus problems quite often, and headaches.

Lamictal can cause blurry vision as a side effect. And long-term it may cause vision problems as well (because it binds to the melanin in the eye, one of the things which helps the eye focus). But there haven't been any studies, natch. I had perfect vision before going on lamictal (due to having had laser surgery), but after about 5 years my vision went downhill, and I'm back to wearing glasses.

If you have dramatic vision problems after a seizure, there may be swelling or other damage to the eye area. To be on the safe side, that should be checked out sooner rather than later.

Yep, between the seizure and lamictal, my vision is a bit more blurry w/o my glasses for a few days. Seizure on Monday, and I can't read the tv at all w/o my glasses. Usually I can make out a little.

Have you found that your prescription has changed since going on lamictal?

Yes, thank you for that reminder!! I increased my dose since my last rx.

sent from my Nexus One...typos are inevitable
