My eldist daughter has suffered with what seems to be panic attacks for a few yrs now :( she also has autistic features which is something that needs to be taken in to consideration with her problems.. I think she also has other issues of which I'm not really sure yet..she seems to collapse for no seen reason every now and then but after loads of tests no docter could find anything wrong with her..
When my baby was in ICU Rea came along with me and after spending some time next to little Jessica who at the time had pipes ect in her head bless her.. Rea wanted to wait in the hall.. when I followed Rea out shortly after wards she was sitting on a seat and was staring in to blankness, she didn't react even though I spoke to her.. this went on for maybe a minute or two..when she came around she said that she didn't hear my voice at the time.. :( I was wondering is it possible that she had an absence seizure? I know some youngsters can have epileptic fits due to changes in the body ect.. and it has now been playing on my mind ever since so thats why I wanted to talk to you about it!
They tested her for epilepsy earlier and didn't find anything..so I really don't know but I have also understood that it can sometimes be really hard to find..the epilepsy I mean..
If it is epilepsy is there a chance that it was just a one off or will she get more or do we ever know?
It would kinda make scence to me if Rea would suffer with a mild form of epilepsy and that Jessica may have this simular problem then? Just a thought though not a nice one at that :( So many questions in my head..it seems so wrong that my daughters have problems.. :(

It is possible that Rea is having absence seizures. Your best bet is to keep a close eye on her to see if others unusual episodes occur. If her episodes seem to arise from anger, frustration or fear, then they are most likely not epilepsy, and maybe more closely related to her anxiety issues. If she does have absence seizures, the MAD (Modified Atkins Diet) has shown a lot of success in helping control them.

It is also a well-known fact that autistic children are more prone to seizures as well. Perhaps you ought to take her in for testing. But keep an eye on her for a while first, and do some documenting of your own, and then present your informaiton to the doctors.

Thank you for replies :)
She was tested for epilepsy once but they found nothing..they tested to see is she sensitive to certain lights ect but wasn't !
She used to fall asleep at school even though she was getting enough sleep..she has had strange problems since high school! She has also been tested for narcolepsy..and they couldn't find that either!
All the problems got progressively worse ever since having the swineflu jab..over here it has been proved to cause problems with some youngsters but in Rea's case it can't be proved..I think it caused her problems to get worse..

I would stay away from any other vaccines (my:twocents:).

Is it possible that the reaction she had in the hospital was a mild, almost passing out due to seeing all the tubes in her baby sister (or did she not go in to see her baby sister?)?:ponder:

How old is she? It seems that many of the autistic kids (about30+%) start having some type of seizure activity by the time they are 10 years old. My son (with ASD) started having absence seizures around the age of 10. He just turned 12.

I hope you get this figured out soon!
