I just got a very sudden sharp pain in the right side of my head. Not ice pick headache cuz its arill throbing but its sjarp feeling

Lef side of my face has gone numb includig my tongue and eyelid so I can't see well. I'm tingly in my lef arm and leg. Cognitively I feel here but this hurts

I get very sharp pains in my left temporal lobe area sometimes. Feels almost like someone's just sliced across the top of my head.

Has it passed yet? If it hasn't passed within a few mins perhaps you should go to A&E

Rae, how long is it lasting? What were you doing in the half hour or so before it hit?

Time to go to ER. Strokes are dangerous. TIAs are your early warning sign for future strokes. The main difference between a stroke and a TIA is that symptoms/damage done by a stroke can be permanent, for a TIA it is temporary and will pass. If you are having either a stroke or a TIA they can diagnose it in the ER. Fast treatment of strokes is critical. If you are having a stroke, every minute you lose is a loss of brain function.

We tend to minimize and explain away our brain symptoms because we have so many. But for some symptoms the risk is too high to ignore. That includes a potential stroke/TIA. Even if it isn't a stroke/TIA, it was worth being careful.

Look here for the signs of strokes and the signs for TIAs:

Your choice whether you go into the ER. But if it was me......

I was just talking to Rae on facebook, i think she's heading to the hospital but i'm not sure... I thought the same thing Endless.

I am at the hospitak, wairing for ct scn. They think its a minbi stroke. Will updayw. Phone may diw

Rae,

I'm so glad you are at the hospital.

Just take care of yourself. Update us when things are under control.

Rae, my thoughts are with you. Be well kiddo.

It's 10 hours later. Rae, are you okay? Are you still at the hospital? How do you feel?

Last I heard, she was waiting on results of ct. I think she'll at least have been there for the night. Hope you're ok Rae!

Rae,

TIAs are bad and I would be very sorry to hear that, but if that's what's going on there is a small bright spot. TIAs can cause physiological non-epileptic seizures, and treatment of that would provide some serious relief for you. And, TIAs are preventable. Imagine a life without seizures and without seizure meds. No doctor visits for seizures. Not a thought of them again. Really life-altering in the best possible ways.

Gee, I hope you had a TIA but are okay. Sounds strange, I know. But there it is.

If it isn't a TIA, maybe your symptoms are one more piece of the puzzle to help figure out what's going on?

Thanks guys. I'm on my way home. Got results. They said I have had 3 mini strokes since my last MRI. He said they were probably a result of a untreated head injury that was more severe than expectedm (I cannot even remember one except being told I smashed my head on the ground in ICU) he said that any other head injuries on that side had probably started the other one.

This one he called a reversible ischemic neurologic deficit (????) I have to take aspirin daily. And gotta see me GP. I also have to have physio therapy as my left hand is all messed up. Plus the tips of my fingers on this side are numb. (Rhere goes guitar playig for a while)

Anyway I'm gonna sleep in my own bed eher soon. Ttyl

Yay! Rae, I am thrilled that you are more-or-less okay. Reversible is good. Do they think the head injuries pre-date your seizure symptoms? Maybe too small a scar to show up on an MRI, but big enough to lower your seizure threshold?

Ordinarily, if you've had a TIA the docs will do an ultrasound and an echocardiogram to evaluate any blood flow issues. If those haven't been scheduled, make sure to discuss them with your GP.

I hope you have a great sleep and feel better soon.
