I have been back on kepraa 250mg for about 3 month now and my hair loss is worse than what it was before. This is including my eyebrows which i can see a difference. My eyelashes and my hair on my head. Will this stop and grow back while im on keppra? i have told my neurologist and many doctord but they wont believe me but i can see a difference. Someone please help me.

lamotrigine

I have recently been put on a new med called lamotrigine, can this cause hair loss? keppra did for me but im scared incase this has same problems. any help would be good.

When I first starting taking lamotrigine I was losing my hair,
and keppra was the med I was taking before that, also losing my hair.
I have been on lamotrigine for 7 years now and it did not take long for hair loss to stop. My doctors told me it was the switching from keppra to lamotrigine. Talk to your pharmacist about it anyway, because it affects everyone differently.

How long have you been talking it?

Thanks screamy. i jus cant deal with all my hair falling out. Do you suffer with any other side affects fom lamotrigine?

I'm on 200 mg. of Lamictal a day and my hair is coming out in giant handfuls. It's clogging the shower drain, and I leave a trail of long red hair everywhere I go.

I was on Topamax before this for a few months, but didn't like the side effects from it so I asked to be moved to Lamictal since we were actively trying to conceive. Even with the added risk of birth defects, I think I may be going back to Topamax.

So lamotrigine makes your hair fall out? aw i cant deal with the hair loss at all. Eveeyone is different keppra is maki g my hair fall out i heard this med am on does not make your hair fall out?

taking 2different seizure meds

I have recently been put on 50mg of lamotrigine as well as raking 250mg of keppra i have been taking the keppra for nearly a year now but i have been put on lamotrigine 4 days agonow. Since then i have noticed my hair loss gwtting worse it was coming out with keppra but not this bad i have also notived am very emotional and end up with the runs. I want to stop taking the lamotrigine and just stick to keppra would this be ok? i was fine on just the keppra but my. Euroligist wants to try a new med on me but ut is not agreeing with me at all. What should i do? sny suggestions would be great as i feel.im talking to a brick wall with my foctors.

I would really stress how you feel about the medications you take. If the drug doesn't agree with you, the drug doesn't agree. Don't let yourself get to backed up in a corner with your doctors. Trust me, i've gotten in yelling matches. I understand that frustration. Though, Keppra freaked me out for a couple of months because I was losing lots of hair, then it just stopped. The hair loss aspect of the anti-convulsant drugs is still somewhat of a mystery. Something to do with hormones.

I want to come off the lamotrigine because i am so emotional.on it and not having nice thoughts and want to jusy give up. But i was not like this with the keppra. It was only the hair loss and anger but i can put up with it as the hair loss is not too bad on keppra but its coming oit worse with kepra and lamotrigine. Its obv the lamotrigine does not agree with me. I just cant syop crying amd havin trouble sleeping with iy. Consyant ringing in my ears always hot heaetburn. Ive only been on both meds rogether for 4 days but been on keppra by itself for about a yeae. I just dont know what ro do anymore.

Well it sounds like the Lamotrigine is not helping at all. I wish the doctors could just fix things for you, because the frustration of things not only being bad but being pushed by a pill is really horrible. I took Depakote for a small amount of time and I couldn't bear it. I couldn't even believe a medication could make someone feel so out of place. Make sure you get a hold of a doctor asap to get something to help alleviate this. Not being able to sleep is going to lower the seizure threshold. Stay strong, sometimes it feels like we have to climb up an ice wall with no gloves. But we can never fall off, remember that!

Thamx. Muay the fighter. I wasnt like this at all on keppra. Ibe only been on the lamotrigine 5 days. I just want it all to stop. Meds ar meant to make you bettwr not worse arent they? i can eep its just takes me.forever and then i wake up every hour lr something. Il be honest i cant cope anymore.

I had a horrible allergic reaction shortly before I got on this forum to a medication. I couldn't cope. I was forced to stay in my bed for a little over a week, yeah the meds can do some wicked things to you. But the feelings always subside. The brain works very hard to ensure you can cope. Right now it might be almost impossible, but days pass and your brain will start to fight for you again. It's a tough road, many people on here have it so bad. I can't believe how strong they are. I would focus on making sure you get on something, even temporarily to help you sleep. That can be half the battle sometimes.

Thanx guys. I was literally sobbing my eyes out i could not stop crying i wasnt like that on keppra. Im gonna ring my doctors tommoro and make an appointment as quick as possible. I migjt ask to go back on keppra.and just put up with the side affects of that. They are no where near as bad as lamotrigine. My neuro told me it should make happy am the total opposite. The buzzing in my ears is sriving me crazy big rime.

No need for thanks, always have your back! The neurologist can only assume but cannot make sure promises about the medications. That is the catch 22. Don't let it get you down, something will work. Regardless you always have the social help on this forum. I am usually on here at night and feel free to message me whenever. About your progress, about how you are feeling, I always listen.

Thank you. I just feel ike im talking to a brick wall when it comes to neuroligists and doctors none of them will listen to me.

It will be ok! Just try and rest until you can get ahold of your Doc. Know it is a reaction to the drug and you are going to be ok. Its ok to cry it can be healing at times. Relax and cry if you need to.
