I'm getting ready to take a long roadtrip (near 8 hours, maybe a bit more) and am understandably nervous. My sister gave me xanax (.5 grams she said) to help keep a bit calm. It just occurred to me a bit ago that I'm not 100% sure if it's okay.
I'm on Lamotrigen (150mg, twice a day) and unsure of the reaction. I can't call my Doctor and this late at night can't get to a pharmacist (Going to try and call one tomorrow) but does anyone here have any information?
Ever taken this combination/ know what would happen?

I can't tell you about your medication specifically but usually when I am unsure about some new medication I google "XYZ and ABC" and see what comes up. That said though, I took Xanax once (I take Tegretol) and I slept like a log. Nothing bad happened. But like I said, I can't speak for you and your medication.

Xanax kicks sedates you really fast and is potent. It think its the most potent Benzo you can have. It won't hurt you, it will make you want pass out or just lay down. It has a pretty short half life so it shouldn't stay in your system for long. Just don't get used to the habit of relying on any benzo, especially Xanax. Easy to become addicted to and the benefits wear off very fast, leading to forced increase.

.5 mg I hope.
.5 grams would mean 500mg.
That's enough to put down an elephant... :?

Anyways... I don't believe it'll be a problem. It will likely make you more tired than you normally will be, but seizures and neurological problems are not listed in its side effects, nor are there any recorded interactions between your med and xanax that I can find. It's always possible you could have a reaction to it, but I think it's pretty unlikely, considering the low dosage.

That said, it's unwise to take medications such as xanax that aren't perscribed to you...

I have no experience with either med but after hours if I have a med question I call the hospital..pharmacy is staffed 24/7 if you want to check for interactions. Good luck! :)
