Okay, folks. I'm still on the medication merry-go-round, and am now ramping up on Lamictal.

Lamictal has TRASHED my stomach. I have nausea, a serious amount of stomach pain, and my stomach feeling like it's up in my throat. It hurts if I eat, it hurts worse if I don't. I take my pills after I've had a little to eat, continue to take Zantac, and am treating the nausea with ginger of all sorts. My favorite is a tall club soda on ice, with about an ounce of orange juice added, and about a tablespoon of fresh grated ginger thrown in. Yummy, and it seems to help my stomach a little.

So, I need you all. Be a good friend and post all your sick stomach remedies here. I'm willing to try almost anything at this point. My stomach feels like it is turning inside out and I really need to stick with the Lamictal if I can.

Q: this stomach pain is temporary, right? Lamictal isn't causing any permanent stomach harm?

Recently my ex doctor insisted if I took antacids for 6 weeks that it would cure all my heartburn problems (I got heartburn once in a while). I thought that would make it worse but she insisted otherwise so I took them for 6 weeks only to learn I was right.

I've since gotten off of them but what helped me the most to get over the heartburn that was created was aloe vera juice.

A naturopath gave me these pills called GI-Encap by Thorne Research that also helped a bit.

Also Might having something small to eat before taking Lamictal help. I know I'm not supposed to take my Tegretol on an empty stomach.

Anesthesia often causes really bad nausea. Post-Op Nurses have always recommended flat Coca-Cola. And for the heart burn, chew 6 Tums with Calcium tablets. If this doesn't help, you'll need to be treated by the doctor.

All the medication I take will rip anyone's stomach to shreds so I take Omeprazole (Prilosec) 3 times a day.

Watermelon. Plain popcorn. Gingerale.

I haven't had any stomach problems with Lamictal, and haven't heard of any long-term gastric side effects with it. (which doesn't rule them out). I take the Lamictal about a half-hour before breakfast, and a half-hour before dinner. You might want to experiment to see if changing the times, or taking with a meal helps. Also make sure you're getting plenty of water.

I feel like a broken record, because I keep saying this  but rooibos tea. It's been the gentlest, most effective remedy for my partner.
