Lately my seizures have been coming all in one day, 3 or 4, trough out the day. I've been wetting myself during some of them too.

The first one might come when I'm sleeping or when I'm still in bed. I sleep with a pee pad (not sure if that's what they are technically called) under my sheets so if I have a seizure and I'd wet myself while I'm in bed that keeps the bed clean. My dad suggested I wear some type of adult diaper for the rest of the day just to be on the safe side, which I have no problem with.

I found some on an internet website that were free to try but when I got them the ones they sent were more like maxi pads instead of the under ware type they'd shown on the website so I'm not sure how good they'd be. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what types or brands would be best?

Check amazon.

I have adult diapers because I get diarrhea easily from all the meds I'm on, and it's just easier to wear a diaper than swapping underwear. The diapers I have are a generic Amazon brand so they're inexpensive. They have a fair amount of padding, but I wouldn't trust them to hold an entire bladder of urine. The advantage to buying on Amazon is nobody at the store will know you are buying adult diapers :) The ones I bought were 20 diapers for $10, which is pretty reasonable.

This is what I bought (I'm a guy):

I've had some complex partials in which I've wet myself, so I will often wear protection when I'm going out just to be safe. The pad type can be okay if they are the maximum absorbency level. Otherwise, Depends & Always make disposable underwear. Depends is better. I know about the subject since I've had to get stuff for my mom.

I don't have much problems with buying embarrassing things is stores anymore not that there's self checkout.

My dad and I have a lot of bathroom problems due to our meds. I'll buy diarrhea meds, stool softeners, constipation meds, laxatives, all sorts of other things and a huge $20 bottle of MiraLAX powder, which works great if you have constipation.

Suggest you try Tranquility brand (Amazon) for night time, maybe Depends for the day (less bulk).

Funny---Ten years or so ago, I would have never thought I'd be in a discussion about adult diapers. Things change and we adapt.

I'm living by the words, "Things change and we adapt." And, I hope I can adapt. After 56 years of living with epilepsy, I just ordered adult diapers for the first time.

I want to pout, scream, rage. But then I realize many of y'al must have had incontinence issues with seizures from your first one.

Funny, a few years back, my neurologist asked me if I even lost my bladder during a seizure, and I was quick to say, "No, never!" Like it was impossible. He was a little surprised that it hadn't already happened. Now it's happened once at night and once during the waking day. Of course, now I'm terrified it will happen when I'm back at work next week. So, I'm purchasing diapers, sigh

Despite being on 200 MG/day Xcopri now (in addition to 500 MG of Zonisamide), I had 3 complex partials a few days ago--all within a few hours of each other! I believe that issues we were having with the cost/payment of Xcopri is what may have caused them (even though it was solved about a week earlier).
My mother was there & witnessed all of them. I spilled tea all over myself in one (didn't get burned, thankfully). I also wet myself during one.

Does anyone know if there are medications that increase the chance one will wet themself during a seizure?

I keep bringing it up with my neuro team asking if it's the meds or not, and I basically get a short speech stating "You have to learn to take the bad with the good". I don't know about YOU all, but that tells me nothing whatsoever. YES it's the meds? Is that also why I've been impotent for over five years (No, never tried Topomax)? Or is it just aging? Or is it my conditions, in which case what "good" are they talking about?

I've also purchased the pads I use online many times from stores' websites --not because it embarrasses me, but because Walmart is often out of stock. With self-checkout, what you're buying doesn't matter anyway--nobody can give you funny looks.

Yes the full briefs are VERY comfortable as well, surprisingly enough. I was expecting -oh, I don't know, crinkly plastic like toddler's attire. But this stuff is just exactly like soft cotton, padded undergarments. Carry one or two extra in my laptop bag, if I have to go somewhere, and I'm set.
What I can't get from these people is WHY. It's like they're looking up at buzzing insects, snatching one out of the horde, and giving me their answer based upon the color of the insect's eyes. I may be old, and I MIGHT be stupid, but I'm not THAT old nor stupid.

When I was having these type of seizures they were considered Grand Mal, of course that was years ago as they took place before I was the age of 13. We were able to control them with Tegretol. I do remember having to do the diapers back then in the day for awhile before slowly changing over the medication. What was interesting, the seizures changed from Grand Mal to Complex Partial and they were still difficult to take care of at times because my bladder would break loose at times. Over the years, things did settle down to where everything became normal and all is okay at this point in time thus far. Hope that information helps.

Turned out, after a visit to the ER, that it was a very serious infection for which I'm now having to take even MORE pills than I already take.
We'll see if they make the difference. Having next-to-no immune system is a hard way to live.
Thank you very much for your input however!! VERY much.

I do hope everything starts to works on a positive note for you now and hope you get the feeling better soon, my friend. ❤️

By the way:
It turned out that I had a dangerously serious urinary tract infection that was trying to spread to my kidneys. I no longer am incontinent, at least for now, but it took three different meds (the final one is a Sulfa drug that made me want to die) to conquer the problem.
They still can't tell me how I got it, but everyone I had to go to (even the specialist) told me that it was likely caused due to my lack of a fully-functional immune system.
Point being, I seem to be cured and no longer have to wear the special unders. Anyone in the market for two giant packages of unopened medium sized male diapers? I'll sell them CHEAP, lol

Glad everything turned out good in the end!

I know we had been talking earlier in this thread about buying embarrassing things, like the pee pad. I'd gotten one from Amazon because I couldn't find anything that I liked in a store. When it came it was at front of the door not in a box just wrapped in see through plastic. I live in the country though and no one probably saw it. But everyone that works at Amazon, and who knows where else knows I own one.

Luckily I've only used it once and it worked great. Washed up really good too.
