Has anyone ever had a drop attack and got burned bad? I have many times. I spilled coffee on my hip once which took months to heal up. That was the worst one. I've burned my hand before and it was either from coffee or hot water.

Read my story. My very 1st TC I suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 1/4 % of my body. I was in the hospital for two months and had to have numerous debrediment/plastic surgeries.
Years later, I suffered another 2nd degree burn while cooking because of a CP seizure. Had to have another surgery. BEWARE-- HOT WATER and EPILEPSY are DANGEROUS!

I now have ugly burn scars on my arm! Ugh!!

A woman I knew many years ago (who has since passed from age) was unable to live alone for this reason.

First she had a gas wall heater and one day had a seizure where she fell up against it and burnt her entire back and just laid there with it burning.

A few years later she was cooking breakfast and had a seizure where her hand fell into the frying pan and sat there. She lost the tips to four fingers on her right hand (nails and all)

After that the doctor said it was time to live with family or in a home, thankfully she had family to move in with.

I nearly burnt house down.first day husband went back to work after 6weeks at home I was lucky not get burned but lost me kitchen.Poor husband comes home from work find quarter of house burned down thank god for insurance
My horror is teeth knocking them out I lost few already sometimes get half a second of going down try get hand on my mouth

Thankfully my burns healed up but that one where I burned my hip was terrible.
The pain was excruciating.

Hi Lonewolf,

There have been many times over the yrs. when I will be having a cup of coffee or tea and I go into a complex partial seizure and I end up spilling the coffee or tea on me and
burning my hand. My neuro has told me that sometimes hot water or anything hot can trigger seizures for some people. I noticed that every once and awhile especially when the hormones are changing that the hot water from the shower hitting my head will trigger seizures for me. You may want to mention this to your neuro to see if there's a connection to heat triggering seizures for you like it does me. The best way to get rid of the pain from a burn is by putting cider vinegar on the area you burnt. I know it sounds weird but it works great. I learned about that yrs. ago after I got 2nd degree burns from being outside swimming and water skiing all day long. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Hey Porkette,

The burn healed up as I did it last year. That hurt!!! I didn't do it on my hip once but twice. The second time it was the worst. That's why I like it cold because I do better when it's cold. The summer is what I dread.

Like I said earlier, my 1st TC was on my way out of the shower. I fell backwards and hit the hot water, and lay there long enough to suffer 2nd and 3rd degree burns. I had been having Cps prior to the, but the dr. did not make the correct diagnosis. There was NO connection for me, just early time of day.

ONLY ON 1st and 2nd degree burns. NEVER on 3rd degree burns. It will make the wound much worse!

I've never had a drop attack, but I've burnt myself because of a seizure. I was making dinner for my sister and I a few years back, I seized, and came out of it, and since I'm never aware of having seizures, I continued on. My left hand was feeling a bit painful, but I ignored it to finish.

I finally looked at my hand when we sat down to eat and it was burnt in a small area behind my knuckles.

I always drink things, hot or cold, out of cups or glasses with lids on them. Mainly because I'm very good at spilling things even if I'm not having a seizure.

I usually don't cook in anything but the microwave anymore unless there is someone in the house with me. I've almost burned the house down a few times. My husband will hear the smoke alarm go off and find me sitting on the kitchen floor and with smoke pouring out of something.

valeriedl,

The line about almost burning down the house made me laugh. I'm glad you didn't though. Like you I'm good at spilling things on myself or all over the place.
You don't want me in white LOL

Hi, Lonewolf.
When it comes to burns, I am a person that you definitely want to talk to. I've burned myself so many times (2nd & 3rd degree) that I no longer go to the ER/hospital. The last time I went there, they actually thought that my family members were abusing me!!

Some members of my family think I should give up hot drinks. They often suggest that I may be falling asleep while holding my tea. I know that isn't the case. The very first time I burned myself is/was proof of this. I had 2 boiled eggs on a plate, & was sitting on my sofa. The next thing I knew, I had an empty plate in my lap and large blisters all over my hands and arms!!

I couldn't get a coffee pot to work once as the plug was messed up and I was in a seizure. I pick up the coffee maker and am going to take it across the kitchen then I have a drop attack and the coffee maker still works LOL

I've burned my hands, arms and legs many times with hot water and coffee. Kind of a good thing that my nerves shut off during a seizure as I don't feel the burn. I feel it when I come out of the seizure though.

I just burned myself again recently--on Jan 15. They were pretty bad second degree burns, mostly on my right thigh. Some were also on the lower front area of my body.
It hurt severely just to walk!
This was the 6th or 7th time I've been burned--my right arm has been burned 3 times in the same area!
When my husband woke up, he saw the saline burn cleaning solution on the counter, & instead of asking how I was, asked "Now where did you burn yourself?"
