I think this picture is 100% true and says it all

Goes back to what I learned in the army. You don't realize what you have until you don't have it. Something as simple as a phone call home (2 minutes MAX, if you even got the chance). I remember calling home to my parents while in basic training. I had to call as quick as possible and PRAY that someone picked up so that I'd get to talk to them. If no one answered then you're outta luck. NEXT! (try again next week). Sometimes we didn't even get the chance to call home (too busy or someone messed up and we ALL got punished for it). We'd have mail call every day I believe (while polishing our boots). Sometimes you'd get no letters. Other times you'd get 5 or more 😂 However, you only had so many minutes to look at your mail because you still had to get your boots polished. Oh yeah. Also the Drill Sergeant would have to check any and all packages because any type of food (or anything else) was considered contraband. Last, but not least, we were required to do seven push-ups per letter. I remembered one time I got (I think) seven letters in one day 😂 I would just get through with the 7 push-ups for one letter when the Drill Sergeant would toss another one at me and I had to start over. He calmly told me to stay down because I had another one (49 push-ups when all was said and done) 😂

Being overseas was "fun" as well . We had the privilege of calling home anytime we wanted, but it was annoying and expensive. First you had to dial the 1-800 number. Then you had to put in the 16-digit code from the telephone card. Assuming you got all that correct, then you dialed the country's extension, then the area code and then the phone number. We're talking 40-ish digits to type in (correctly). Then once that's all said and done you'd sit there and hope you typed in the right number and that SOMEONE (ANYONE) picked up (plus make sure you weren't calling midnight, their time) 😂 As far as expense, for whatever the number of minutes the card had on it (ie 100 minutes) you'd have to divide that by three and that was the actual amount of time since it was an overseas phone call. I think a 100 minute card was $30 or something. So practically $1/minute 😂

That's the one "good" thing I see (hopefully) coming out of this situation. Hopefully a lot of people will wake up and realize just how much they take for granted and they will start to appreciate it more. Too many people EXPECT things as opposed to being thankful and respective of them. People are being ticked off because they "have to stay home" (ie. can't go out to eat or watch a movie). Hey, be thankful you have a home to stay in. Movies and restaurants are privileges. Same thing with sports and college. Does it suck? Of course! Just like epilepsy sucks. However, has it (literally) killed you (ie not being able to play basketball/baseball or go to the movies/bars/restaurants etc)? Nope. So hopefully this helps people learn the difference between privileges and necessities/essentials. We'll see what happens.

We have just started our football season both Australian rules and Rugby. The Australian rules CEOs wanted to cut the games down but the players wanted to keep playing and just play longer.

They're going to be playing in empty stadiums with no crowds which means loss of money.

Our government is in the process of giving money for people who struggle. This includes people on benefits eg pensioners and unemployed, as well as small businesses like my boss and businesses who employee apprentices.

When this was announced the ceo of rugby said they're going to lose alot of money this year and wanted some money from the money the government is handing out. Pure greed the sports people make good money. The money the government is handing out is to help people get by and people stay in jobs.

It's like this has really affected travel, the ceo of our major airplane company got on the news one night saying last year he was worth billions but now he's only worth millions 🙄

I'm think far out 😡, I've never had a real lot but I've always gotten by just fine. I'd rather work for whst I have even if it's not much then have everything handed to me.

The U.S. is planning on sending checks to everyone, but in the same aid package they're going to give the corporations a lot of relief (which was already done two years ago, and they didn't need it then either). Most of the corporations already get around paying their taxes -- Amazon pays next to nothing. If the money were going to go to their workers that would be great, but it's more likely going to those at the top.

Thursday I went to pick up one of my seizure meds and I usually get it for 3 months, when I got to the pharmacy they only gave me
enough for 1 month giving me the go around that the stores insurance wouldn't cover it, the stores ins. has nothing to do with it I have
my own health ins. that pays for it. On top of that my employer cut my pay when I got paid today all do to the virus. I sure hope nobody
else has to go through these hard times. Be sure when you get your meds that you get the full amount some pharmacies are cutting back
on the amount they give you. Sorry I couldn't give you better news. I wish all of you only the best and May God Bless All of You!

I hope you can find someone at the pharmacy to get you the rest of your meds. You could remind them that they might be liable if you have a seizure because they withheld medicine.

The PM has just given his daily update and after today, all the pubs/bars/restaurants/cafes/cinemas etc etc have to close. Shops, government agencies and obviously front line/emergency services will be staying open. Genuinely surprised that the government are covering up to 80% of people's lost wages. I went to get some shopping today and managed to get a fair few bits on my list, but there was an awful lot of empty shelves!

My Chicago friend said people were getting $1000 payments.
I think over here its more only certain people and it might only be $700 but not 100%.

Same here Lou
Mum took me shopping after work last night and i was surprised there was only one thing i had trouble getting and that was fresh milk.
I buy low fat milk and they were pretty much out of it, only had full cream milk which i cant drink and 2 bottles of low fat milk which Mum saw.
Still no toilet paper but I still have a few rolls there & my Mum stocked up before this happened as she lives out of town so told me she'll drop some in if i need it lmao.

We heard the qualifiers to this today. Anyone who hasn't filled a tax return of at least $2500 in the past year doesn't get anything. Meaning any of us on full disability and unable to work don't get squat. Not like we would need anything.

Its the opposite here, the ones who are getting the payments which I think is about $700 are people on benefits so pensionsers, unemployed, sole traders and employers who have apprentices.
People like me who are low income so part time or casual get nothing. But I think there may be more info to be released so that may change.

I managed to get some loo roll and potatoes today so i am a happy Lou! I mean... the Irish need the spuds lol

I watch an Aussie cooking reality show, the 3 judges are all chefs but one is originally from Ireland . Last week one of the teams cooked a dish with potato’s in it and he made a comment about always good to feed an Irish man potato’s

I'm trying to hold off on the shopping until I've gone through everything in the cupboards and/or gotten scurvy. So my diet right now is soup, mystery things from my freezer and lots of peanut butter. :)

I just got home from shopping and I couldn't get any hamburger and I checked in 2 different stores everything was gone.
It looks like I may out a job for the rest of the school yr. Saturday I got a letter from the superintendent of the school district I work at
and the virus broke out in one of the buildings but we weren't told which one. I sure hope it's not the school I work at. I have been
sneezing a lot but other than that I feel fine. Enjoy the peanut butter and I wish all of you only the best. May God Bless All of You!

The prime minister did a media release last night about 9pm with an update in the epidemic. They are starting to lock downs and bought the school holidays a week ahead. My state has gone into lock down with total lock down of non essential activities.

This is a list of the essential services and jobs. I’m not sure until Wednesday what happening with my job but think I’m ok 🤷‍♀️

I went to the supermarket yesterday and they’ve started a social distancing rule, at the cash registers they had X on the ground which were about equal to a trolley apart.

When I paid for my items I went through self serve register, usually there is only 1 cashier there to assist you if you get stuck . But yesterday there were 2 cashiers directing customer to either eftpos or cash.
Even though there were clearly marked X’s On the ground people were still stand in the wrong spot. The cashiers were constantly asking customers to stand on the X.

One older lady even said ‘ yes I see it now, I’m not queue jumping’

When I left and was walking out of the car parks I was walking behind a cashier who I assume was off to have a break. She apologised as I think she was in my way (she was ahead of me), I said not at all and by the way you guys are doing a great job.

Everyone is to keep their distance from each other but when I go to the store people are right near each other and then what gets me
the most is the President and all his speakers are standing right next to each other while they have a special report on tv but it was
the gov't. who told everyone to keep a distance but our gov't. isn't following their own rule. Wishing all of you only the best and May
God Bless You!

The UK is officially on lockdown now, although the PM was very careful to not use that exact term. No gatherings of more than 2 people, all non-essential shops to close, we're allowed out once a day for exercise but only alone or with family groups. We should only leave the house otherwise for essential shopping, caring for someone or to go to work in specific jobs. Police have the powers to give fines and dispersal notices. They've said for at least 3 weeks but we shall see.

When our politicians experts do media releases they stand the specified distance from who theyre with usually the prime minister is with the main health expert. My states premier is with health & rescue specialist and theres usualy people doing sign language who is at the side.
