One possibility is that your medication level is too high. I have not had much of a problem with Lamictal, but I don't know about others you are taking. My dilantin can do that to me.

Sometimes it can happen with the meds after a few years (I know -- what fun, just when you thought you were used to them). But it could be unrelated too, maybe a thyroid problem, or anemia as you mention. So get checked out if it goes on too long.

Sleep apnea also causes daytime exhaustion and is quite prevalent to those with epilepsy. You might want to mention this to your doctor. Not to mention other issues like low iron, thyroid etc.

Hi, Morgan. I relate to your exhaustion because I'm having a relapse of the Epstein-Barr Virus (in the Chronic Stress Fatique Syndrome). It's like exhaustion upon exhaustion. Just layers of it. I don't know your cause but I don't think it would do any harm if I share with you what my doctor ordered for me. (My GP is of course aware that I have Epilepsy). But please check with your doctor first.

High protien diet

Vitamins to strengthen my immune system: (Of course take on a full stomach as you would your meds)

B-12, C, E, Zinc, Selenium, Iron, Folic Acid

While still very tired. (I sleep a good portion of the day) I've found that taking these vitamins along with diet have increased my energy level a bit.

And drink lots of water. Stay away from orange juice as it has sugar. Right now avoid all sugar, even keep fruits to a very low minumum until you're stronger.

You might also want to go for a blood work up. When my doctor first took one look at me he thought I was anemic. But the tests came back for EBV.

And Buckeye has a point

My doctor had me on too high a dose of Lamictal. I was so tired I could barely walk. So, you also might want to take medications into consideration. Specific blood work can be done, testing your medication levels. I had this done with Lamictal. Dosage was quickly reduced over a short period of time and I started feeling better.

Here's to hoping we both feel better shortly. That's green tea in there!

Hi Morgan

There are many causes of fatigue and or exhaustion. If you don't improve shortly, then I would definitely recommend that you go to your doctor, as it could be a sign of something else brewing. Hopefully it is just the meds you are on now and your doctor might be able to adjust them for you.

take care,
Roo
