I had an appointment with a NFB specialist for June 2, but she was lax in returning phone calls. I made 3 calls to her, all unreturned. This appointment was setup about 4 weeks ago through voicemail, as she would call me back when I was busy at work. She said she was going to pencil us in for this 3-hour-long appt. but didn't tell me what she was going to do during those 3 hours. I call back, and left 3 messages and have yet to have her return them. It is another one of those stressful weeks, thankfully no seizures, but other stressors, so I cancelled that appointment and scheduled 10 appointments with a NFB center by my work. It will take more effort in getting my son there, but at least they answer the phone!

Have I told you I really hate it when my calls aren't returned? I think I give more than ample time for someone to return my calls, and I'm not a pest about it. I'm way too busy to be calling someone all day long.

So the good news is, I'm going for the intake appt. next Friday. I don't have to bring my son, so I won't have to drive all the way home, get him, and drive all the way back. Their office is 10 minutes away from my office. He starts his sessions the following Tuesday. I'm really praying this helps him with his focus, concentration, memory, anxiety, and finally, SEIZURES!

I don't know how people stay in business with such poor customer relations.

It sounds like it was meant go be. I wish you all the best with the new office. I will send positive thoughts your way.

Thanks Robin. I should have gone with them all along. If I had, he would have completed about 4 weeks of sessions by now. I really like this place, but I don't like the fact that I will have to leave my job at 3 p.m. twice a week to take him there. The other place was a little closer, but he's going through a tough time with school right now, and I needed to get something started asap!

I can relate -- same scenerio happened to me. Good Luck and let me know how it goes. It is kinda like a contractor -- they run on their own time.

Take Care :e:

Remember... you are doing your best, with the information that you have. It is all new to us, and we have to muddle through the best we can.

It is the end of the school year, so if you both need some mental health days, take them. I understand the schedule issues, but perhaps there are other ways you can make up for the lost time at work. I think you will see some improvements over time. Be patient and observant of any out of the norm behaviors, or changes. Also, make sure that nutrition is at its premium. It is so important to have the proper nutrients for brain health, especially when you are training the brain to behave in a new way.
Omega 3 supplements were also recommended by our therapist.

Good luck.

What has the world come to when the fact that a place actually answers their phones is considered a bonus?!?

I hope all goes well at the new NFB place. The poor phone etiquette at the other place either means they're overbooked, understaffed, clueless, rude or all of the above. To be avoided.

Its great to here that you've finally been able to get your son set up with NFB treatment quicker lindinig. That has got to relieve a lot of the stress you have been experiencing over this.

I've traveled all over the world and there are two places that really stand out in my mind for poor customer service...Germany and the US, with the US being the worst of all. I think there should be a course taught in school... How to Provide Excellent Customer Service 101.

The best customer service I've ever encountered is in the Middle East and it will blow your mind away! That service is provided by Asians and my husband says that customer service is good in Asian countries as well.

I agree. I used to work in customer service about 20 years ago, and even though I'm a lot more patient than some people, I still have very little tolerance for poor customer service. I'm very excited to start this journey. Being able to setup these appointments ended my week on a high note. I started a blog. When I get it ready, I'll share it with you.

Robin I was thinking of omega 3. I give him a handful of other supplements but that was just one that I haven't tried. I cook clean and healthy most of the time at home. For some reason, he doesn't like candy, or chocolate, or anything overly sweet, which makes my job a lot easier. He will eat healthy (including some vegetables) to a point. He likes soda though, but even then, he'll only have 1 glass, and not every day.

He's a trooper though. Our last refill of depakote came in 250mg pills. He needs to take 5 of them at night just to get to the correct dose. On top of that, he takes 3 more vitamin pills, and 2 liquid vitamins/minerals. The only fuss I get is the vitamin B6. I have to get a different brand. This one dissolves in his mouth before he's able to swallow it (YUK!).
