Supposedly it has little long term effects on the human body, but it seems like a lot of people have bad side effects from it and need to switch to something else. My neurologist told me I'd likely have to take it for the rest of my life, as long as it keeps working, so I guess that's a pretty good indicator that it is meant to be a long term type of medication.

I was on Keppra for about 1 month and the drug didn't work for me plus it gave me a hot temper so I went
on Vimpat in it's place and that seemed to work well for me and it stopped most of my complex partial seizures.
Wishing you only the best and May God Bless You,

Sue

I think it's a drug that you can be on for a very long time. I was on it for over 10 years but couldn't handle the side effects - Kepprage. I was angry about almost everything all the time. I had to beg my neuro to take me off of it, which took a few years, and he finally did. I think he put me on Xcopri. I didn't notice any change in seizures but I felt so much better. Everyone said I'm like a completely different person since I've stopped taking it.

Did you lose your driver's license? If so, for how long? Did your neurologist report you to the DMV? My wife has many health issues and I do everything like all the driving for appointments, procedures, shopping etc.
