I do not know how to actually use this site, but I can tell you the 200MG Lamital is a blue pill shaped like a shield. it beats having to take 5 25MG pills twice a day. So I have had my dosage lowered the last time I had to be in the hospital to have my Bipolar Meds and all other meds I take for other reasons. I feel much better going form 250MG a day to 200MG after I had a grand mal seizure this past February. I had not had a grand mal seizure in over 12 years (ever since I started taking the Lamictal. Last year some jerk MD added Depakote to my Lamictal for no reason, I had NOT had a seizure and I slipped into a coma for 2 1/2 months. My granddaughter has her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and attempted to talk to the MD who had added the Depakote to the Lamictal but he refused to talk to her. After being transferred to several hospitals, I finally got to one that was good to me. She called the treating MD and told her to take me OFF the Depakote and I would come out of the coma. Within a few days I ws awake and answering questions appropriately. My husband thought I was going to die, I nearly did. Depakote is a bad drug with a lot of interactions with many prescribed drugs, it has gone on my Allergy List with my MDs. I ended up losing over 50lbs, but that was not a good way to end up a lot thinner, but I did not know I had lost that much until I woke up. Still not a good way to lose weight. Now I am back on all the prescriptions I had been taking before I had the UTI which always makes me manic. Now I have a wondeful MD and she is helping me. I have had 5 UTIs since the first of December, 4 this year. Only have to make sure I will be able to get my BP lowered.

Hi HW, welcome to CWE,

Your Depakote experience sounds like a nightmare. I'm glad that is over and you are getting good care now. Cheers.

I recently refilled my Lamictal. I take 200mg tabs and they have always been blue and shaped sort of like a shield. The pills I just got are round and green. My husband picked up my prescription so I called the pharmacist when I got home and asked him about it. He said it is the same pill just from a different manufacturer. I looked online and could not find anything about them being a different size/shape/color.

I am not complaining because I have gone 5 days seizure free and I have not done that in the 10 years I have had epilepsy. I have simple partial seizures by the way.

Anyone else take Lamictal and are they shaped like this? They have to be different because I feel so much better!! I sort of feel like my old self again. I do take the generic brand and have most of the time except when I first started taking these.

Anyway - thanks!

Rita
when medication comes from a different manufacturer it can look different. Example, there is a heart medication called Metoprolol that I get constantly that usually is white but there have been times when the medication will be pink instead for my needs; same medication that does the same exact thing, just from a different manufacturer. I've spoken to the pharmacist when I saw a pink medication as it raised my eyebrow at first. I was given the "no worries, all is well and I am in good hands" it is the same medication just from a different manufacturer.

Hope the above information helps.
