I was put on Zonisamide in Feb this year, everything was fine and no seizures til May when they came back but I went to see my GP as it was 4 weeks before my wedding and my Zonisamide was increased from 200mg daily to 300mg daily by my GP.

Things then settled back down and I enjoyed my wedding day and honeymoon to Blackpool with no seizures. Unfortunatly things haven't lasted that long since the honeymoon before the seizures started. My hubby and I have noticed that the seizures are getting a lot stronger and longer. I only got diagnosed 9 months ago and I don't lose concious but my whole body starts to shake violently. At least the focal form of my Epilepsy is behaving.

My hubby should have been working a couple of sundays ago but he had to call in sick to look after me as I had started with seizures earlier that day and I was seizing for 14 hours , had 3 hours sleep then started the next day :( Every day last week I was seizing for 6/7 hours everyday. I'm not due to see my neuro til 20th August as he's away at the moment I just don't know what to do for the best now as I'm exhausted and don't know how much longer I can carry on like this :(

The first thing you need to do is contact your GP and see if he can bring your appointment with you neurologist forward (I know that is asking a lot of a doctor but try). At lest you got a good wedding and honeymoon, you have a good hubby there.

I'll try thanks, my hubby has even quit work to look after me full time as he worrys about me being on my own.

are you by any chance on birth control pills?

I ask this because they make my seizures much worse.

Are you keeping a diary? This really helps you and your Dr. seeing a pattern or triggers.

I am but I was on them before I was diagnosed with Epilepsy and it never bothered the Zonisamide before and my cardiologist doesn't want me on anything else but birth control pills. I'm on the mini pill Cerazette.
Everything seems to triggering me at the moment so no matter I do I have a seizure :( I'm not keeping a diary.

I found out about keeping a diary on this forum and I couldn't believe the things that were trigging my seizure.

It has helped me and my Dr.

I can't take much of anything, I have my Vit. B, calicum, Vit.D compounded all these caused my seizures to increase.

I hope to find the cause soon.:hugs:

Call doctors office and let them know what's going on. Just because you won't see your neurologist for quite awhile, he should give you some ideas on what to do. If not, find a new neurologist! Sounds like your problems are quite serious, sorry to hear what you've been going through. :(

You should ask for your general physician to refer you to a neurologist, perhaps an epileptologist which would be better. You may need your medicine changed or dose increased perhaps.

I had planned to see my GP today but slept for 12 hours because of bad seizures that made me exhausted yesterday. I have already had an increase in dosage of the meds with minimal effect but I am really beginning to struggle now and my hubby won't let me go out on my own anymore:(
