Hey guys, thank you all so much for your comments on this post, you have all made me feel so welcome here, and it's lovely to feel not so alone. :)

Oh those horrible phenytoin side effects are back again, numbness in my cheeks and all around my mouth and in my hands...oh I just wish this would go, it feels so weird to me!!!

I did find one beneficial side effect from phenytoin (apart from being fit free),
my pain threshold was increased.
I very rarely ever nead a pain killer.

Moongirl, make sure your drinking plenty of fluids (aim for 2 litres a day).
and
Exercise those cheeks (keep smiling).

Things can only get better :)

After trying an alternative medication without success
the Dr has decided to keep me on phenytoin.

I am quite happy about this as it does work for me.
So the tremor stays, as does the need for extra care with my oral hygiene.
But I remain fit free :)

Hey Steve,
They examined me again, and reckon my levels might be a bit high just waiting for results. So they might drop the dose, hopefully that works. Glad to hear you're fit free and keeping well :)

I guess thats one good thing with phenytoin.
A simple blood test can show if your medication needs reviewing.

Another thing I discovered, though it might just be me.
If I drink a lot of Cola my side effects worsen.

Interestingly those symptoms are also on the packaging of most mild pain relief.

Fortunately only the minority of people suffer them,
and not every side effect.

However if it makes life too uncomfortable then get back to the Dr.

I have also found that many side effects of medication become less after 2 or 3 weeks.
