Another question I have is did any dentists notice any issues prior to all this being discovered?

You'd think that a routine visit to the dentist and xrays would have shown the issue developing before it became so severe..

I had been going to the dentist twice a year for cleaning, etc and until about 3 or 4 years ago, they would tell me everything was fine. Then about 3 or 4 years ago, I was told I needed to see an dental surgeon for receding gums, etc. but I couldn't afford, in more ways than one, to start with that right then. I was caring for my husband who was dying from cancer and there was no way I could do it then. He was my first priority. After he passed away, I started with the procedures. I didn't understand why my teeth and gums had been getting a "clean bill of health" all of those years. It just looks like to me it should have been gradual and shown up before it did. I guess I will never understand fully what happened.
