In April I was officially diagnosed with epilepsy. A week later my manager failed to turn in my paperwork on time and my insurance was cancelled. I got Medicaid but that's about to end because I got married and my husband doesn't have insurance offered at his work.
So I called around for quotes and was told because of the epilepsy insurance, for the simple pay a lot out of pocket plan would be $650 a month just for me.
So I'm hoping someone on here has some tips or something on how to get insured without paying so much every month. Are there any affordable companies out there? I'm in South Carolina. Thank you for any help

It's still a few months away but when the Insurance Exchange portion of Obamacare kicks in, you will be able to get health insurance at the same cost as everybody else and you can't be denied. Your state is going to implement the exchanges, I hope. There are a few states who have declined, to the detriment of the majority of their citizens.

In the meantime, in addition to insurance a health savings account helps. It puts aside your money for you to pay for your health care, and that money is tax deductible.

Calling your state insurance commissioner's office may help, too. Some commissioners' offices have a help line where they answer questions about insurance and point you toward resources. It's different in every state.
