I have partial seizures, I no longer qualify for Medicaid for health coverage, lately for the past 5 days I've been really dizzy and out of it, I've been just in bed since yesterday, I'm super dizzy and when I'm up I feel like I want to pass out. Has anyone else felt like this and what did they tell you to do.

Welcome to the forums!
You don't give a lot of details with your question; such as whether your seizures are simple or complex partial, and what your usual auras are if any. How long have you been on no meds for? If it has been a short time, it could be some sort of withdrawal response. Your feelings could also be auras. Or, it could be none of those and perhaps you have low blood pressure, hypoglycemia, syncope, etc. If you haven't seen your neurologist/epileptologist recently, it might be prudent to. As for the non-seizure possibilities, your family doctor may help you sort through your symptoms.

She said she no longer qualifies for Medicaid, therefore how will she qualify to see an epileptologist? Any solutions?

I'm from Canada, not the US. Don't know all your rules down there. Payment of medications and tests is one thing, but I wouldn't have thought things were so restricted you couldn't even see a doctor without Medicaid! Not even a family doctor??

Huh? One can see a family dr. when on Medicaid, but Medicaid IS very restricted. The health care system is very complicated here in the U.S. One usually cannot get in to see a specialist when on Medicaid here in the U.S. unless they do see their family Dr. first. And there are many different health insurance plans. Then there is a difference in Medicaid and Medicare.

OH! Thanks for the clarification. I thought medicaid and medicare were the same thing:paperbag:

Same in Canada - we always need a referral from a family Dr. to see a specialist as private clinics are virtually non-existent for the majority of specialties, but one's financial status wouldn't dictate whether we get that referral to a specialist or not. It may be a very long wait to see that specialist compared to a lot of US insurance plans, but the referral does eventually happen.

Sorry, darkangel, this got a little off topic. I don't know if you might find some help here or not: http://www.epilepsy.com/get-help/services-and-support

hi everyone, ive been off meds almost 10 months... im on a very strict income, just enough to keep a house over our heads. I believe i get simple partial seizures... I was told that i could go tothe epilepsy foundation to see a df and receive all my epilepsy meds, but it would cost me $50 a month, which i cannot afford. Im lucky if i stay with $5 after paying my bills and getting things for my house and kids "thank you dollar store".... I looked into those websites some of you listed but i would need to see a dr to get the prescription, and my pills weren't free i would still have to pay. I wish i could just be back to my old smart me... darn meds on or off im just not my old self....

thanks... ive checked those websites and i still need a dr prescription in order to get my meds, plus the $30 for the medicine supply i would need for a month :/ ... im gana try again for Medicaid and im ganna keep my fingers crossed... thanks everyone :)
