Hi. I hope everyone is well.
I seem to be needing help today. I had a bad feeling day with the auras all day yesterday, but not exactly the same as usual. I didnt see the funny stuff. I felt tired all day. Today, however, I felt a little better ,aside from the dizziness all day, but I had something odd happen. I kinda b;acked out for a second, while washing dishes. I didnt fall, but I "came back" and I had my jaws clenched and bit my tongue a little bit. Then my mouth got a little dry and I was tired. Does anyone have ANY idea what the heck that was??? I have tonic clonics, and I have neve done that. It has kind of freaked me out. Ok, I am kind of tired now,and resting on the couch, I hope to hear back from anyone soon. lol Thank you so much. :):):)

Sounds to me like you had a small seizure. If it happens again let your doctor know about it.

I didnt want to admit it, but that crossed my mind. I will let him know if it happens again, because doesnt that mean my meds have stopped working??? I'm afraid I'll choke or something, lol, cuz that one just happened kinda suddenly. thank you.:) hugs to you.

No problem. I'm glad that I could help. I had something similar happen to me several times. Your doctor will probably want to do some lab work to make sure your medicine is working. Sometimes your body can can become immune or tolerant to your medicine. I hope your seizures stop soon.

That sounds loike a complex partial. I often have ones like that

oh yes

a lot of people have more than 1 type of seizure. I have all kinds of partial seizures & have had a few tonic/clonic.

Someone once told me that in life variety is a good thing. Hmmmm:ponder:

LMAO, GREAT!!! I just thought I needed a little more variety I guess, lol. :) Well, I guess I will be calling the doc tomorrow; IF I remember, lol :):):)

Another question:
The feeling some people get in their stomach, related to seizures; is it kinda like your ulcer is hurting??? because mine has been BUGGING me, but not really hurting. Thank you in advance.;)

There is a form of epilepsy that also affects the stomach area.

Try to keep track of what you eat and how you feel afterward. It could simply be a flu. That can prevent medication from going into your system.

If nothing improves, definitely go seek medical help.

My daughter started with myoclonics at 14 ish. AT 16 she had her first grand mal. We are still trying to figure out if she also has absence seizures.
For the last 4 years my son only has grand mals. He also gone 18 mos seizure free.
Its a puzzle. Its important to have a Dr you like and trust.

Good luck

I agree with you joan. It's important to have a good doctor. Good doctors are hard to find.

I was diagnosed with Tonic Clonics; cam I have more than one type??? It was weird, lol

Unfortunately yes, you can have more
than one type ...

However, as Joan has implied - you may
need to see another Doctor; but you do
need to be re-evaluated.

1) It is not unusual for seizures to change

2) It is not unusual for one to begin to
have a new one or another type to
"join in the bag"

3) It is not unusual as one grows older,
for seizures to increase, decrease, remain
unchanged, explode to all types of of
varieties, or if one has multiple types
of epilepsies - for them to disappear
here and there.

There are many reasons for "how's and why's"
as well as "unknown reasons". It can range
from hormones to medications to lesions to
whatever to unknown.

This is why it is important to have everything
re-evaluated all over again (in which it is fun,
NOT!), just to get to the bottom line.

Lindsay's first seizure was a tonic/clonic on the school bus. Once medicated she was having complex partials. Then in this past year she started having atonics and cps that would generalize. So, yes, it seems Lindsay wanted to add some variety to her life as well!!

Thank you all.I appreciate your help with all of this. I dont know whewre i'd be if it werent for ya'll!!! Wow! It just keeps gettin better doesnt it,lmao. Thank you for makin me smile this morning. I needed it. I feel better now, but not completely normal. I may end up going in sooner than my appt. I will also have to look up all of the different kinds that are associated with eachother, or what-have-ya. I have a new thing to study up on. :):):) Love ya's. Nice to "see" yall again.;)

... aside from the dizziness all day, but I had something odd happen. I kinda b;acked out for a second, ...

It could have been a complex partial seizure, but if you were experiencing dizziness all day, there could be other possibilities. Have you had your blood pressure checked lately? It could also have been high/low blood pressure and/or a TIA (mini-stroke). In any event, you should definitely talk to your doctor(s) about it.

It could have been a complex partial, but when I read it, my initial thought was tonic seizure. It would explain the loss of consciousness, why you didn't fall to the floor, and why your jaw was clenched.:twocents: Your whole body went rigid? or do you remember? I hope you're feeling better. And as the others have said, it's not uncommon to have a variety. I have simple partials, then complex partials which usually generalize into tonic clonic. I guess variety is the spice of life, but I think I'd rather mine be a little more bland.

Hi Kristina! As stated above by the others, yes seizures can change, yes new ones can hop on board, and yes you really should go see your doctor. :) Just curious, had your eaten? If so was the food starchy or sweet? If so, it might be that your blood sugar dropped and that triggered it.

Another possibility is that your medication could be making you toxic.
Rebecca's seizures were much worse on medication, and there were many varieties.

Also, gut issues could possibly be causing your seizures.

:agree:
I found an interesting fact: the GI tract has approximately the same amount of neurons as the spinal cord. (The Maker's Diet, by Jordan Ruben, NP) In this book, he describes how changing your diet can cure/greatly improve a great variety of health problems.
