Does anyone have a seizure dog? We are thinking about getting a dog, and I have seen a lot about how trained dogs can help during a seizure.

My daughter is thought to have simple/complex partial seizures, and my son is very susceptible to febrile seizures. If we do decide to get a dog, would getting one trained to assist during seizures be worthwhile? Is there a specific type of dog, or can any breed be trained?

Thank you!

I don't know where you live but here in the UK you have to meet certain criteria to have a seizure alert dog. For example a certain amount and type of seizures, resistance to medication etc. I would love a seizure alert dog. It would put mine and my family's mind at rest, but i don't think i would meet the criteria.

Whereabouts are you based?

In NY, in the USA.

That was what I was figuring, since I would assume the demand is high.
