See the thing that worries me the most is that the they aren't allowed to test the vaccine on children, so no-one knows what the effects will be, basically if I let him have the vaccine, HE will be the guinea-pig. Not to sure about that....

Here are some of Health.com’s better suggestions:
* Fight the flu with vitamin D. 1,500 to 2,000 I.U. of vitamin D not only bolsters the immune system but also may help prevent infection. (PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT my recommendation, but abstracted from the article on Health.com. I believe most adults need 5,000-8,000 units of vitamin D per day)
* Wash your hands. The flu virus can live for up to 72 hours on surfaces. That makes hand-washing the most effective daily defense. Wash briskly with soap and water for 30 seconds.
* Cover up. Bandage all cuts, even paper cuts and blisters.
* Stay clean at the hospital. If you’re visiting a hospital, wash yourself and your clothes right after. Don’t use bar soap in any hospital bathroom or set your purse on the floor. And researchers recently found that one in three stethoscopes used by emergency-medical-service providers was contaminated with MRSA -- ask your doctor to swab his scope with alcohol.
* De-germ the gym. Use a disinfectant wipe to swab the handlebars of equipment, and drape a clean towel over shared yoga mats and sauna and locker room benches.
* Don’t share. You’re at increased risk of MRSA if you share razors, soap, towels, or other personal items.
* Be proactive. If you have to take an antibiotic, take a probiotic at the same time to build up the healthy bacteria in your gut.
The Swine Flu outbreak, according to Dr. Blaylock's figures, eventually affected 4,910 Mexican citizens and resulted in 85 deaths. Once the flu spread to the U.S. -- due to air travel and the failure of health officials to control travel from Mexico -- it caused primarily mild cases of flu-like illness. Now the virus has been spread worldwide.
Contrary to predictions of a massive amount of deaths and the WHO's manipulations making it possible for them to call it a pandemic, the virus has remained relatively mild, as happens each year with flu epidemics. There have been 311 deaths worldwide out of 70,893 cases diagnosed. The U.S. has had 27,717 cases that have resulted in 127 deaths. It's sad that people have died from this virus, but such low numbers do not come close to being pandemic and should not be the basis of implementing egregiously draconian government policies.
As noted by Dr. Blaylock, it's helpful to recall that the Centers for Disease Control, with the collusion of the media, constantly tells us that 36,000 people die from the flu each year, a figure that has been shown to be a lie. With the Swine flu, we're talking about a little over 300 deaths for the entire world. It's also interesting to note that the WHO said that the H1N1 flu pandemic is moving around the globe at an 'unprecedented' speed but stopped giving figures on numbers affected.
Everyone has the jitters over the so-called swine flu pandemic (recently declared by the WHO, a U.N./pharmaceutical-dominated organization). Named H1N1, this virus, according to a virologist quoted in Science magazine, is composed of an unbelievable array of genes from a number of sources. Virologists are also saying that this is the most unusual flu virus they have ever seen. It kills and seriously sickens the young but is a mild disease in the elderly, just the opposite of all other forms of flu virus.
For a pandemic, it has killed fewer people worldwide than any pandemic in history. Remember, the CDC claims that 36,000 people die every year from ordinary flu in the United States alone, while this flu has killed only 429 people worldwide — more people died from snakebites. Very few infections or deaths have occurred in the sunny Southeast — most are in the northern latitude states. Australia has had over 2,000 cases of this flu with only one death, which indicates this is an incredibly weak virus.
Because of the disappointing initial effects of this virus (remember they were preparing us for a 1918-style flu death event), experts now say that we can expect the big event when winter hits. And, surprise of all surprises, the vaccine manufacturer Novartis announced that it has a swine flu vaccine all ready for the occasion and that it will not give it away to poor countries — they must pay up. All we need now is for President Barack Obama to declare that everyone will be forcibly vaccinated.
well , Roche is minting millions from tamiflu. the media fright is increasing the number of people who run to hospital for tamiflu when they should be at home with chicken soup and a hot bath. The right advice is stay at home and do the usual things you do for the flu . You should go to hospital if you develop sudden/severe breathlessness , fever and cough (and even then it's more likely to be pneumonia).
I do appreciate that swine flu affects people differently
... i wouldn't be surprised if there's some pharmaceutical conspiracy at work here which creates a medusa for perseus to be of use. ...
The scientist who made headlines in May by positing a laboratory origin for the swine flu that has swept the world will defend his theory in the scientific literature, Peter's New York has learned.
Dr. Adrian Gibbs, a Canberra, Australia-based virologist with more than 200 scientific publications to his credit, said that over the weekend he submitted his latest work on the swine flu to a prominent scientific journal, and is awaiting a response.
Gibbs, 75, was part of a team that developed the antiviral drug Tamiflu.
Back in April, when the first cases of swine flu were diagnosed in Mexico, Gibbs examined the genetic structure of the virus that had been posted on a public database. His analysis led him to speculate that the virus may have been the result of a laboratory error. He contacted the Geneva, Switzerland-based World Health Organization with his conjecture, and scientists there scrutinized his findings, concluding, however, that the virus was most likely a product of nature.
In a series of email exchanges with Peter's New York, Gibbs said he was not satisfied with the WHO's critique, indicating that the basis for it was ambiguous.

... tamiflu has been around for the last 3 years and no one used it because no one took the regular flu seriously (yes , it works on that too). ...

Novartis, the second contender, also has an agreement with WHO for a pandemic vaccine. Novartis appears to have won the contract, since their vaccine is near completion. What is terrifying is that these pandemic vaccines contain ingredients, called immune adjuvants that a number of studies have shown cause devastating autoimmune disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and lupus.
Animal studies using this adjuvant have found them to be deadly. A study using 14 guinea pigs found that when they were injected with the special adjuvant, only one animal survived. A repeat of the study found the same deadly outcome.
So, what is this deadly ingredient? It is called squalene, a type of oil. The Chiron company, maker of the deadly anthrax vaccine, makes an adjuvant called MF-59 which contains an ingredient of serious concern--squalene. A number of studies have shown that squalene can trigger all of the above-mentioned autoimmune diseases when injected.
The MF-59 adjuvant has been used in several vaccines. These vaccines, including tetanus and diphtheria, are the same vaccines frequently associated with adverse reactions.
I reviewed a number of studies on this adjuvant and found something quite interesting. Several studies done on human test subjects found MF-59 to be a very safe immune adjuvant. But when I checked to see who did these studies, I found—to no surprise—that they were done by the Novartis Pharmaceutical Company and Chiron Pharmaceutical Company, which have merged. They were all published in “prestigious” medical journals. Also, to no surprise, a great number of studies done by independent laboratories and research institutions all found a strong link between MF-59 and autoimmune diseases.
Squalene in vaccines has been strongly linked to the Gulf War Syndrome. On August 1991, Anthony Principi, Secretary of Veterans Affairs admitted that soldiers vaccinated with the anthrax vaccine from 1990 to 1991 had an increased risk of 200 percent in developing the deadly disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also called Lou Gehrig’s disease. The soldiers also suffered from a number of debilitating and life-shortening diseases, such as polyarteritis nodosa, multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus, transverse myelitis (a neurological disorder caused by inflammation of the spinal cord), endocarditis (inflammation of the heart’s inner lining), optic neuritis with blindness and glomerulonephritis (a type of kidney disease).
Because squalene, the main ingredient in MF-59, can induce hyperimmune responses and induce autoimmunity, a real danger exists for prolonged activation of the brain’s immune cells, the microglia. This type of prolonged activation has been strongly associated with such diseases as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS and possibly vaccine-related encephalitis. It has been shown that activation of the systemic immune system, as occurs with vaccination, rapidly activates the brain’s microglia at the same time, and this brain inflammation can persist for long periods.
What most people do not know, even the doctors who recommend the vaccines, is that most studies by pharmaceutical companies observe the patients for only one to two weeks following vaccination—these types of reactions may take months or even years to manifest.

"The irony about the deal, the thing that is so stunning, was this was the thing that ... criticized about the... prescription drug plan. It was the example of selling out to the drug companies," said Bob Borosage, co-director of Campaign For America's Future. "It was a pure lobby effort.... It is just unacceptable. [House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi has fortunately stated that she is not bound by any deals that are cut that were made with the White House. And this will be a test."
