have been experiencing issues for the past two weeks due to damaged nerves so it's another issue I'm now starting to work with. Chronic back pain really sux as it has me doing this sleeping during the early eve and I'm waking up in the early am at this point.

I can handle the sleep change but it just really messes a lot of things up as I'm not getting a normal sleeping pattern to function for the day at work. :twocents: Worse yet I'm hoping the nerve issue slows down to where I can lay in one position for awhile and sleep. I keep hoping things will improve.

Since I started going to the gym, I go to sleep early the night before.

That messed up my sleep/computer patterns. :(
But some days I wake up too early and find myself not tired so, here I am. :)

I'm just wandering around the internet, dealing with my Lamictal insomnia. The Vimpat was "supposed" to help with that, but still awake and still seizing.

I'm looking every where for a way to help my son with his seizures, AEDs and side effects. I know I'll be looking for a very long time..

has anyone suggested speaking to your specialist about your son taking Vitamin B6? This has been known to assist with AEDs and how the medication works.

I hope you are able to find some assistance on this matter.

Thanks Sue. Yes we did give him the B6 supplements. Unfortunately it did not help him.

Still looking :)

I was googling, seeking poems written by doctors/ health conditions. I came across this:

"Poetry In Medicine". Inside are several poems on the subject of E. This is one I have to share:

Flight

By B. H. FAIRCHILD

In the early stages of epilepsy there
occurs a characteristic dream .... One is
somehow lifted free of one’s own body;
looking back one sees oneself and feels a
sudden, maddening fear; another presence is
entering one’s own person, and there is no
avenue of return.
~George Steiner

Outside my window the wasps
are making their slow circle,
dizzy flights of forage and return,
hovering among azaleas
that bob in a sluggish breeze
this humid, sun-torn morning.

Yesterday my wife held me here
as I thrashed and moaned, her hand
in my foaming mouth, and my son
saw what he was warned he might.

Last night dreams stormed my brain
in thick swirls of shame and fear.
Behind a white garage a locked shed
full of wide-eyed dolls burned,
yellow smoke boiling up in huge clumps
as I watched, feet nailed to the ground.
In dining cars white table cloths
unfolded wings and flew like gulls.
An old German in a green Homburg
sang lieder, Mein Herz ist müde.
In a garden in Pasadena my father
posed in Navy whites while overhead
silver dirigibles moved like great whales.
And in the narrowing tunnel
of the dream’s end I flew down
onto the iron red road
of my grandfather’s farm.
There was a white rail fence.
In the green meadow beyond,
a small boy walked toward me.
His smile was the moon’s rim.
Across his egg-shell eyes
ran scenes from my future life,
and he embraced me like a son
or father or my lost brother.

Holding the Fort or Forum down. Because I'm the only one here now.
Actually one of my cats decided to go on walk a bout.
There are many stray, feral & outside cats around here he wants to visit.
Because I frequently don't slide my sliding door shut all the way he can slip out.
Once in awhile he gets out.
He has been out several days now.
I see him around frequently.
My other cats usually don't try to get out but even so I don't dare leave my door open for him to walk in on his own.
I'm going to take this laptop out and sit on my patio for awhile.
Since at 12:55 AM it still is over 100 F out I doubt if I will freeze.

I'm still here just had quite a few things taking place between graduate teaching that started in April and just finished in June - I do have some final matters to resolve end of July. Otherwise things are quiet. I am working on some other options for work between now and October. I need something to keep me going.

Well it's not midnight yet but I've decided I'm just going to stay up all night and go to work early, maybe around 6am-ish. Then I'll come home and just crash early. I have an appointment on Tuesday at 11am so I can sleep in a bit.

I'm tired of the daily grind at work. I just want to live dammit.

Wow, I just read my comment from 2 years ago, didn't even think it was me who wrote that!
But yeah, to give you an update, I'm applying for social security disability and going back to school. I'm at least going to do a Master's degree in Biology, but I've always wanted a PhD and feel that the opportunity is within grabbing distance, so I'm gonna go for it. I already have a Master's degree in electrical engineering, and I'd like to study neurobiology. I think the two fields are probably linked pretty well. I love school, if it weren't for the money problems and all that, I'd just take classes the rest of my life :)
