two things to know:

First, Lee Elder broke the black color barrier in the PGA much earlier than Tiger. He played in the Masters in 1975. Please see the following link:

Lee Elder

Also, there are quite a few other black golf professionals in the PGA, too. They just are not as well known. Please see the following link.

African American Golf Professionals

Hope this helps clear up some confusion.

Meetz

Well, lookit that. Thanks for the info Meetz!

*grinning*

You're more than welcome. I remember watching golf tournaments ALL THE TIME as a kid, thanks to my father, and I KNEW I had seen another black professional golf player before Tiger......I just could NOT remember any names. (Go figure!!)

I swear I saw EVERY golf tournament on TV from the time I was 4 until I left the house......*eyeroll* Don't get me wrong, I like golf, but sometimes.......

Meetz, Thanks for the information. I did not know that.

I have watched golf for years and never noticed.

I found Amy Lee, the songwriter, singer and pianist. She founded the band Evanescence She ia an advocate for epilepsy:

So then, is Tiger one of the winningest golfers? Or is he the most consistent? I don't know anything about golf. Or any sport, really.

Tiger is the richest and most consistent golfer.

At www.tigerwoods.com It is under About Tiger and then press on bio.

Eldrick (Tiger) Woods has won 93 tournaments. 71 on the PGA Tour.
He won the 1997, 3002, 2002 and 2005 Masters Tournaments.
He won the 1999, 2000,2006 and 2008 PGA Championships.
He won the 2000, 3002 and 2009 U.S Open Championships.

He is the first ever to hold all 4 professional major championships at the same time. He is the career victories leader among active players on the PGA Tour and is the career money list leader. He is very rich.

Yes, Tiger

does have the current lead. And will probably have the lead for a very long time.

BUT if you go back, and look at consistency, especially at Tiger's idol, who happens to be MY favorite player, Jack Nicklaus (aka The Golden Bear), it is Jack, I think, that should take the cake.

In a time where clubs were NOT made of super-strong alloys like now, he managed to win 18 majors and take something like 36 2d places. And when competing against people like Lee Trevino, Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer amongst others, that's saying something.

If you want to go back even farther, Ben Hogan was pretty good and consistent, too, considering the limited number of tournaments to play when he was on the PGA in the early 20th century.

Hi Meetz, I have watched golf ever since they started showing it on TV. I loved watching Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead. They were great. They were consistent winners, in my opinion, in their time. When you watched a game, you were always in suspense as to which one was going to win.

Sometimes they show the Senior's Tournaments, I enjoy watching those tournaments, as well. They do not show them to often. It is to bad. They are great golfers. I have not heard of a lot of their names, but I enjoy watching them.

Golf is one of my greatest sports. It is relaxing, the sports announcers are soft spoken. It is a great stress reliever for me.

PGA Tour Career Wins:

Sam Snead-82
Jack Nicklaus-73 10 Senior PGA Tours 30 unofficial and international events
Tiger Woods-71

Jack Niclaus was born in 1940, he is now 69 years old. He retired at 2000. His career went from 1962-2001. He is working as a golf course designer and is now on the Senio'rs Tour. He made and hosts 'the Memorial Tournament.' Hi runs one of the world's leading golf cours design companies. Over 300 professional golf tournaments are played in as many as 62 of his courses.

Tiger Woods has been replaced

From: Yahoo! Sports
By Doug Ferguson, AP Golf Writer

This is in my own words:

Tiger Woods will not be playing in his own golf tournament. He is the host of the Chevron World Challenge at Thousand Oaks, California. (AP)He says that it is because of unspecified injuries. He will not show up as a host.

He was replaced by Graeme McDowell.

Hi Shelley, I read your link. It was his mother-in-law who was taken to the hospital. I heard on ABC news this morning that the blonde left the hospital. That was Elin's mother. Elin admitted her.

Rae, I read your link, too. She had stomach problems. No wonder!! She probably has a bad ulcer.

Tiger will be ruined before this is over. The next door neighbor is starting to talk. He must have been offerred big bucks for the story.

Tiger now has something in common with my father..
Can't keep it in his pants. How many kids does Tiger have? I have no tolerance for infedility myself. As my mom caught my father at his mistress's house when I was in the womb. I will always have deep resentment for my father not giving me a chance to live with the family. He broke the my home before I even got there. This I will never forgive.

Tiger has 2 children living with him. I feel for them. They will not escape this scandal and maybe his retirement from golf.

I am sorry matchu, that it happened to you. At least you did not have a famous family. You would still be hearing about it from the reporters.

Ruth, you mentioned once that your family was in the news alot, as you had a very weathy mother. can I ask who she was? (sorry if thats too private, as I'm just curious.) did she have epilepsy too that you know of?

My mother's maiden name was Dean. A very famous family in California. She married Robert Dollar 11 of the Dollar steamship lines. They are no longer in existence. It was my father who had epilepsy.

When my mother got drunk and wrecked the car, it made front page news. That was the Chronicle in San Francisco. I have heard that the last part of the Dollar family is in Canada. Just look up Dollar.I believe they have a lumber company there. The part of the Dollar family that is still in the Bay Area of CA have disowned me a long time ago. I did not inherit anything because of my epilepsy.

We lived on a ranch for 6 years and in our valley for most of his life. If the family found out that he had epilepsy, they would have disowned him. When he died, it made the front page of the San Jose Mercury News and probably other important newspapers, as well.Especially, the Bay Area. He died in San Jose.

I was not allowed to come to my own father's funeral. What if I had a seizure? The family could not have that with the news media around. I have always resented that.

I was gonna say that we have a lumber company up here that was operated by a dollar family! Wow Ruth, that's pretty cool.

Very sad about not being able to bea t your own fathers funeral. I hope to get to vist his grave site. (hugs)

Hi Rae, I am glad that you have heard of it. I did not know if they were still in business. The Dollar family came from Scotland to Canada. Then they came down to Washington State, then to San Rafael California.

I am allowed to visit my father's grave.

My mother and father always told me that with fame and fortune comes the media. It did not bother us because we were raised with it.

Tiger did not come from a wealthy family. That is why he does not know how to deal with it. Everything comes out sooner or later. He should have gone to the hospital to visit his mother-in-law. Not visiting gives the media the fact that he does not care about her.

If I was at the mansion, I would come out and read a family speech and get it over with. If he knew about how the rich act, he would be out playing golf. He is the one making it worse. The media is still waiting outside the gates. I think that if the media offers the neighbor enough money, then he will tell everything. That is probably going to happen. He might just do it on his own. He is rich and he does not want the media around. They are always bombarding him with questions.

Hi Rae, my grandfather was Harold Dollar. My father was born in China. My sister now has his Chinese birth certificate. Thank you for looking it up. The Dollar family also has a family crest from Scotland. Robert Dollar had an anscestor, Bruce the Great. Bruce the Great was a freedom fighter for Scotland. He had his own family crest.

Like I said, I never inherited because of my epilepsy. Thank you for looking it up. I just have the history.
