So..everytime I shower I am really dizzy. I would say almost vertigo if that makes sense. In fact, if I close my eyes I fall down. Very dangerous. If I wash my face and have to close my eyes to rinse I have to hold the wall or I will fall down. Is this seizure activity?

Thx!!

Something somewhat similar does happen if I'm bathing (I can take baths as long as someone else is in the house) where if it gets too hot, I get out of the tub and suddenly get dizzy and fall over, I don't know if they're seizures but I don't take chances with them.
I don't know about your seizures but mine can be triggered by heat; are yours triggered by heat, and are your showers hot? That could be a possibility...

It could be a warning aura. Some folks have found that the sound of the shower, or the water temperature is a seizure trigger. For me, putting my hands over my head (as for washing my hair) can make me dizzy sometimes.

Threads below discuss temperateure/water triggers:

Could be...
But how's your blood pressure?
When I think of dizziness in a shower setting... my first thought goes to a shift in blood pressure, not seizures.
My father has had the same thing happen to him, and he's got some BP problems. The hot water would cause a shift in his BP and make him temporarily dizzy and faint until he got out of the shower. He'd be fine afterwords.... He fixed the problem by taking lukewarm showers instead of hot ones.

Not sure if that's helpful or not... if your BP is fine it may be seizure activity... If you think it is, then it may help to try and identify what triggers it. The lights in the bathroom, the heat of the shower, the sound of the water, etc. If you can isolate a trigger you can hopefully find a way to avoid it. It sounds like, since it's every time you shower, if it is seizure activity then there's a specific trigger that's causing it in the shower.

Stay safe! :)

Wow great thoughts! My BP is always low 80/60 (seriously). I do hot yoga all the time in at 105* room and feel fine. Is it the heat that effects the BP? So now I'm considering the noise? I'm at a hotel now for a military conference and it is way worse than home. Makes me scared to death to be alone. I feel like I am on on the verge of falling, not passing out like when you get that tunnel feeling. It feels like vertigo but the spinning stops just as it starts, more like shifting. This is scaring me.

Your last post makes it seem like it happens outside the shower as well.... Is this a shower only thing, or is this occuring even when you're not in the shower?

Funny! All the above mentioned happens in the shower. The dizzy shifting crap happens all the time but in the shower it is WAY more intense. And why would it be worse at this hotel rather than my home? I have actually been feeling drunk for two days now. I just wish I knew if this is seizures or something else. I am in a stressful environment and alone. Maybe I'm freaking myself out?

It could easily be stress. I know for a lot of people, stress is a major trigger.

You're aware it's a problem at your home, you're alone, and in an unfamiliar place... Depending on your personality, that could cause some or lots of anxiety, which leads you to freak yourself out even worse, which leads to more intense problems in the shower, because you get in it already expecting there to be problems. Then you have problems, get out of the shower, and are freaked out even more, leading to more stress, and more problems.

That's a pretty vicious circle, if that's what is going on. :(

Is there anything you can do at the hotel to just relax and take your mind off of these things? Watch TV? Read a book? Crosswords or word searches? Anything to get your mind to focus on something else? If you're okay when you're doing something else, but not okay when you're focusing on it, it's likely being made worse by the stress of the situation. At least, that's what I'd lean towards believing... others may disagree. :)

@ Stilat! Thank you! I don't want to say my support team sucks but when I called home and tried to talk about my increase activity here their response was, "I told you not to go". No advice or anything. I think your right about stress. I am freaking out here alone. Can you imagine being found naked by the cleaning service or colleagues if I didn't report in for my class? Ugh! I suppose I should be glad I'm in shape (giggle). Today I'm going to try and look at this as an opportunity to be alone and try to enjoy it. I'm going with your stress thought. :))

i get this all the time!!!! tho i get it walking up and down stairs too.

you could have vertigo

Can you imagine being found naked by the cleaning service or colleagues if I didn't report in for my class? Ugh!

Yes, I can imagine being found naked in the shower from having a TC seizure. Not only seizing, but having 1st and 2nd degree burns on my back and arm from hot water because I was lying there long enough before anyone knew I was having a seizure in the shower the 1st thing in the morning. I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months because of the burns, skin grafts, EEGs, testing , as this was the first TC seizure for me. Before the TC, I had been experiencing CP seizures, but didn't realize it at the time. I'd been to the dr. and he diagnosed me as hypoglycemic, without doing any testing. Have you had your glucose levels checked?

The shower/bathtub and kitchens are the most dangerous places in the home for anyone who experiences seizures, so if you're feeling dizzy while showering, get to a safe place while you still can.

Try some jazz or classical music to get your mind off the shower and onto something else. Your fears are familiar and changing the focus always helps me. I think silat is onto something. True vertigo would happen all day not just shower. My only other thought is the material the shower is made of. Maybe it makes a different noise that triggers something. Also your sleep pattern may be different added with increased stress of being out of town.... all leading to your feelings. I relate to your words.

Gosh thank you all! I was in a conference today and closed my eyes and fell out of my chair??? Was this a seizure? I think this stressful business trip is getting to me.

Sounds like you're having seizures then...
I honestly think it is to do with the stress you're under, and that you're uncomfortable in your current surroundings.
Does your medicine normally work? If they're not well controlled on your current medicine(s) then it's likely you're having seizures break through despite the meds, simply because of stress triggers. Would it be possible for you to contact your doctor and discuss this directly with him/her?
