Robyn, just FYI - There's also the MMR, and - in Kentucky, at least - the schools require the chicken pox vaccine (can't think of the "scientific" name for it). All three of my kids got the chicken pox vaccine, but my daughter came down with a very mild case anyway. (She had about 5 spots).

Personally, I believe in vaccination. I realize that there is a small % of people who have had adverse reactions to them, but I think it has helped many, many more people than it has hurt. :twocents:

:sheep:

Yes I do know about the MMR, but it was not given on the same day as the others. I also believe in vaccines to a degree. I do find it crazy that so many are given at any one time. Also why it has gone from 10 to 30. Why does a infant have to receive a vaccine in while still at the hospital? Why is there mercury in vaccines? Why is there anti-freeze in vaccines? Why is there aluminum in vaccines?

I wouldnt say that 1/150 is a small % in the autism community. There is certainly some connection if you talk to each and every parent. There is also the believe that alzheimers is a form of autism. Many children with autism also have seizure disorders.

There is now a new vaccine that is a four in one. The increase in convulsions has been recognized.

We need to take a step back, acknowledge what is going on and make corrections. Not just stick our heads in the sand and say all is well.

I have three kids with immune dysfunctions, and the evidence to the fact that it might be viral is quite strong. These viruses lay dormant in the body for quite some time. More research needs to be done before we harm any more children (or grandparents for that matter).

This is my opinion.

Abstract

The propaganda dispensed by Public health care and vaccine apologists is, at best, a weak attempt to rationalize the healthcare establishment’s
positions using all the tools of doublespeak or, as George Orwell’s called it in his book 1984, “newspeak”, to: (a) mislead, (b) distort reality, (c) pre-
tend to communicate, (d) make the bad seem good, (e) avoid and/or shift responsibility, (f) make the negative appear positive, (g) create a false verbal map of the world, and (h) create dissonance between reality and what their narrative said or did not say.
Such propaganda often relies on half-truths and/or superficially logical, but foundationally flawed, phrasing. However, this propaganda is fundamentally flawed and based on pseudo-science or non-reviewable statistical studies of medical records, where, contrary to ethical science, the study
design, data selection/rejection criteria, exact approach used to evaluate the data, and/or the original data itself are kept confidential making independent evaluation/verification of the published findings impossible. A review of the statements from an article in the November 1, 2007 issue of the Skeptical Inquirer that is entitled “Vaccines and Autism: Myths and Misconceptions” by Steven Novella, MD (which was found online at
http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G1-170731919.html) triggered this presentation of the factual realities that rebut the myths/misconceptions presented in that article and/or in similar articles published and/or underwritten by the purveyors of vaccines and vaccination recommendations. Each myth/misconception is summarized in a short statement and then addressed by presenting the factual reality and when appropriate, providing peer-reviewed references that support this reality.

Dr. Paul Offit, chief of infectious diseases at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, claims the apparent connection between vaccines and autism is “nothing more than a sad coincidence.”
:ponder:
Dr. Offit is also one of the patent holders of the rotavirus vaccine (Patent Application number 353547), and the recipient of a $350,000 grant from Merck for its development. Additionally, he is a consultant to Merck Pharmaceuticals.

Dr Mercola's response is well worth a read.

Bill Would Allow Parents To Opt Out Of Vaccines
By: Michelle Gabrielle Centamore

In order to establish an exemption to mandatory vaccines, the Philosophical
Exemption to Immunizations Act recently was introduced in the New York State
Assembly. Currently, there are 18 states that give parents this right, while
most other states offer only religious or medical exemptions.

"As a parent, I don't like the state making medical decisions for my
children," said NYS Assemblyman Marc Alessi (D-Wading River), who sponsored
of the bill. "I think if you are philosophically opposed to vaccinations,
the state shouldn't be stepping into the role of parents to make the
decision for children."

According to Alessi, the notion for the bill arose out of the complaints and
concerns of a number of constituents who argued that obtaining a religious
exemption through a school district was unpleasant. "They had gone through
sincerity hearings to determine if the vaccinations were sincerely against
their religion and it turned out to be more like a witch hunt where religion
wasn't discussed; rather, the hearings seemed to solely address how
important it is to vaccinate children and [therefore] publicly embarrassing
the parents," he explained. "It is a very intimidating process for parents."

But while the school districts remain adamant about the necessity of all
incoming and registered students being fully immunized, at the same time,
said Alessi, there are a large group of parents who are philosophically
opposed to having their children immunized. "Whether [they believe there is]
a link to autism or another serious disorder, they are concerned with the
safety of vaccinations on their children's health," he added.

As part of the new legislation, parents who wish to declare their children
exempt from the vaccines for philosophical reasons would simply have to fill
out paperwork - there would be no hearing. "The only children who aren't
vaccinating are going to be the parents who have a concern. For the parents
that feel they want to vaccinate their children, if these vaccinations are
truly effective as the industry wants us to believe, then those children are
immune and there is no risk," Alessi said, adding that, to date, "I have not
seen any increase in disease amongst children in states that have
philosophical exemption on the books."

After meeting with many doctors regarding the general issue of
immunizations, Alessi said, there is enough of an ongoing debate about
vaccines that parents who are concerned should have the right to not
vaccinate their children. "Some doctors said the benefits [of vaccines]
outweigh the risks but they could not say there were no risks and, at the
end of the day, the risk analysis should be done by the parents."

After his family's own "internal struggle," Alessi did choose to immunize
his children, but said that the way the Federal Drug Association brings
vaccinations to market is questionable. He cited the latest HPV vaccine,
which was designed to prevent the human papillomavirus, a type of cervical
cancer. "HPV is not spread around schools through airborne illness; it is
spread through sexual activity but yet we should inoculate a female child?"
he asked. "It comes down to the fact that there was a time when there were
five shots for children who were getting vaccinated between the ages of one
and five by the time they were ready for school - now it is close to 20 or
more."

And for some parents, like Kerrie Ferrara of Shirley, the risks of
immunizations outweigh the benefits. At her son's first visit to his
pediatrician's office, she said, she was offered a stack of photocopied
papers describing each vaccine and their potential side effects. "I was
supposed to sign all of these and return them to the office, giving my
'informed consent' to these vaccines," she explained. Ferrara said that
signing those forms did more than just offer consent to immunize; it
literally eradicated what would have been the life of a typically developing
child.

"My son developed typically, even hit some milestones early. He had his MMR
[measles, mumps and rubella] at his one-year visit. Within a week he stopped
talking, lost all facial expressiveness, started staring out windows,
stopped answering to his name, and started lining things up," Ferrara
stated. "He seemed to do everything in slow motion."

At the same time, the family was throwing birthday celebrations, holidays
were observed and home renovations were underway. "We thought he was just
overwhelmed," she said. "He started to bounce back and one month later he
had the chicken pox [varicella] vaccine, and he was 'off' again," Ferrara
said. "Two months after that he had the DTap [diptheria, tetanus and
pertussis], HiB [haemophilus influenzae type B], IPV [polio], and Prevnar
[which prevents against certain pneumococcal diseases], all in one day. That
was the straw that broke the camel's back. He was completely gone after
that."

Over the past four years, Ferrara said she has absorbed so much more
information about the contents of vaccines and their potential to cause
serious side effects and even death. "I do not feel that I was really giving
my informed consent, since I was not completely informed to begin with," she
said. "Once receiving these sheets, parents should be able to do further
research on their own, and be free to make their own choice. If more parents
were truly informed about the ingredients in vaccines, and how they affect
the fragile immune and neurological system of a small child, I doubt many
would give their consent so quickly. Parents should have the legal right to
decline vaccines based on knowledge they've acquired and their own personal
beliefs."

"My fear is that some day, we are going to look back at these forced
immunizations on children and say to ourselves, 'If we only knew then what
we know now, would we still have done it?'" said NYS Assemblywoman Pat
Eddington (WF-Medford).

Considering the growing rate of autism - with no definitive cause or cure -
Eddington added, "I think it is better to hold off on these types of
immunization shots altogether until we have a clearer understanding of how a
child can be affected by them.
My concern is that there are parents who
trust their doctor to give these shots and then are left with a child with
autism. While I do feel that children should be immunized, it should be done
when their immune system is more stable."

In the meantime, Eddington said, "having a child immunized should be a
parental choice."

By introducing the "Philosophical Exemption to Immunizations Act," said
Suffolk County Legislator Edward Romaine (R-Riverhead), "Assemblyman Alessi
has done a good thing medically because he is raising the questions of
vaccinations and their effects on children. Currently a child will receive
almost 39 doses of vaccines by the time he is six years old and some parents
deem the trace amounts of mercury in vaccines as a preservative as a
potential cause for autism, as well as other physical impacts on children."

According to Romaine, who stated that he fully supports the new legislation,
warning labels on some vaccines are questionable in relation to how they are
administered. "They are not always strictly followed," he said. "Ironically,
many of the recommendations made by the American Academy of Pediatrics
almost appear lax compared to some of the more cautious recommendations
written on the product that is intended to protect the manufacturers of
these vaccines from liability."

Currently, the Philosophical Exemption to Immunizations Act rests in the
health committee, which will decide if the bill goes straight to the floor
or to another committee before being approved by the New York State
Assembly, New York State Senate and then on to the governor.

As it progresses through the committee, Alessi said, "I plan on holding
hearings on Long Island with doctors and both sides of the debate. We are
trying to get as much information as possible. I just don't think the state
should usurp the role of the parent in medical decisions for their children."

Personally, I'm for vaccination. However, the way it's done currently is not something that I would agree with. I think that giving kids vaccinations for more than one disease at a time is too hard on a developing immune system. Especially when you consider that fewer moms breast feed, and therefore help to build up their child's immune system in that way. Just my opinion. :twocents:

The first research project to examine effects of the total vaccine load received by children in the 1990s has found autism-like signs and symptoms in infant monkeys vaccinated the same way. The study's principal investigator, Laura Hewitson from the University of Pittsburgh, reports developmental delays, behavior problems and brain changes in macaque monkeys that mimic "certain neurological abnormalities of autism."

The findings are being reported Friday and Saturday at a major international autism conference in London.

Although couched in scientific language, Hewitson's findings are explosive. They suggest, for the first time, that our closest animal cousins develop characteristics of autism when subjected to the same immunizations – such as the MMR shot -- and vaccine formulations – such as the mercury preservative thimerosal -- that American children received when autism diagnoses exploded in the 1990s.

Really great educational videos.
After you watch these ask yourself if their is a connection...

Vaccines are not only for the young. The increasing vaccine schedule for those over 50 is doing quite a bit of damage to many.

Dr. Russell Blaylock's article is worth reading about this subject:

Stimulating your immune system with a vaccine is far different than contracting an infectious illness naturally. Vaccines are made of two components -- the agent you wish to vaccinate against -- for example, the measles virus; and an immune system booster called an immune adjuvant.

These adjuvants are composed of such things as aluminum compounds, MSG, lipid compounds and even mercury. Their job is to make the immune system react as intensely as possible and for as long as possible.

Studies have shown that these adjuvants, from a single vaccine, can cause immune overactivation for as long as two years. This means that the brain microglia remain active as well, continuously pouring out destructive chemicals. In fact, one study found that a single injection of an immune activating substance could cause brain immune overactivation for over a year. This is very destructive.

That much advertised flu shot looks like it should have a danger symbol on the bottle.

And if the four vaccine shot (Quad something or other) can cause an increase in convulsions... don't you think that the multiple vaccines that are given at that time can cause terrible distruction to the gut. It is a complicated scenario, but one that must be addressed.

 Interesting point...there are nearly one hundred million nerve cells in the gut (GI tract) alone--about the same as in the spinal cord! My aunt developed E after a head injury and her seizure intensity seems to be related to some of the foods she eats. As for the mercury...it, as well as many other metals are known to reach toxic levels in people who are regularly exposed or who show a genetic weakness (for lack of a better word), according to many naturopathic doctors. Also, according to a couple chiropractors I've met, spinal misalignment can trigger seizures for some people. :brain: I wish doctors would take more of a holistic approach and treat the whole person, not just their symptoms.

That is my focus as well Morgan.
I believe many of the neurological disorders we see are related to similar issues.

my son was lifestarred to the children's hospital and in bad shape the night of his four month immunizaitons. We almost lost him. He has had seizures ever since. That was six months ago.

Becki - this just should not be happening.
Do you have a doctor that believes that this occurred?

Hi, no doctor, his PCP or neurologist, has said that the immunizations were the cause. We actually just contacted Boston Children's Hosptial to see a specialist for a consult/second opinon.
